I've told this tale before but anyway here goes. Sheff Weds deliberately watered a part of their frozen pitch to ensure it became unplayable. This goes back many years told to me by the father of their player Graham Hyde. Weds apparently had so many injured players that the only way to avoid playing was to do the above. Only telling you what I was told by a genuine source. 'Sup to you.
I believe you being involved in football if you want to play you do everything you can to play if you don’t want to play well ……………. These conditions we have now though are extreme and even if you wanted to play there wouldn’t be much chance of getting your game on
The Wednesday one is true I believe, Graham Hyde used to live in Arksey, I recall at the time being told his dad had said similar. I don’t think Northampton have done anything to force this though. It’s just one of those things.
Just to stop cynics it's about time if you call a match off the players that would have been available are the only players you can use when it's rearranged.
I'm not disputing our situation but I wonder how many games down the years have been deliberately scuppered.
The home fans are over the moon' some were even tempted to go and pour water on the pitch last night. Can't beat being confident lol..
What happens to players that have been sold or released (from a loan)? Do they have to come back and make a guest appearance?
I read on the Northampton forum something along the lines of ‘happy it’s off, Barnsley are in good form, hopefully by the time we play them, they’ll have blown themselves out’, which is fair enough from a fans perspective. Shrews fans will probably be saying similar about their game with T’Udders today. Thing they are overlooking is it’s not a given that they would have lost these games had they been played.
On what basis have you formed this hypothesis? What assumptions have you made and how can it be tested in the real world?
Did think the Stevenage one could have gone ahead last year if they really wanted to pull put the stops and get the game on. They had some key players missing with illness which had spread through the camp, but tomorrow definitely not a suprise with the weather we've had, think it would have been off even if we were at home.
What about when Ipswich got our game called off at Oakwell when we were on that ridiculous run under Duff?! All for a fake 3rd player getting called up who ended up getting nowhere the squad… My head well & truly went…
Or if players that were available for the first game are injured for a rearranged game. Let’s get them out there on crutches
