Never knew much about this stadium other than the Olympics, certainly had no idea about Rugby League and QPR did we ever play there versus QPR at any point?

Just remember seeing it when going to watch us at QPR in about 1982. Is it still there?

Parked there for QPR away in 1981/2 ish. Think it was being demolished at the time.

I went there to see an athletics meeting in the early 1960's, the track was loose cinders, one of the athletes was Bruce Tulloh who ran in bare feet.

It felt absolutely massive, but tbf things do when you're a kid. If you want to see it in action, they used it for dog racing as well and it featured in the final scenes of the film 'The Blue Lamp' with Jack Warner and Dirk Bogarde.if I remember rightly.

Funny you should mention it. It featured in a Steptoe & son film I was watching over Christmas.

Wasn’t that the venue for the Greyhound Derby that used to be on Sportsnight?

No. They had two spells at White City 1931-1933 and part of the 1962/63 season and we only coincided during the latter. We played them away on 15 September 1962, but their first game at White City that season was on 6 October 1962.

That must be a great memory to have.

My uncle was an athlete and ran there many times in the 60s.

In the 1960s it was used for big athletics meetings. I remember watching on "Summer Grandstand".
