I think once a player has had his head turned, they’re off. The price then depends on how much interest there is, and I’m not sure there was much competition for any of those players, and I’ve no doubt their agents would be trying to advertise they were for sale.
Much as I like Phillips he was not in hignetts class he could do everything great passer, goal scorer, skill to take on and beat players with ease, great dead ball exponential.
No they didn't cryne left them with a big bank balance he took out the money he borrowed the club to.buy players like winnall scowen conor etc they spunked all that.
I agree to a certain extent its hard for the club but when like Kitching and Adam Philips they have long contracts you should be getting good fees.
We did get a good fee for Kitching tbf. In an ideal world contract length would have a bearing on price, and we should have a reserve price. Must be even more gauling for the clubs we buy players from, as we really do get some bargains. They know we are taking their best players, but can’t afford to keep hold of them.
Look at the dkd transfer we had been after him all summer. Didn't clough say our 1st offer was a joke, then went quiet until we sold styles I imagine signing dkd we had to go higher so needed the money from the sale of styles. I'm not sure Preston or Swansea could pay the money I think Phillips is worth but who knows.
Sorry bud you get that my bad,you get used to folk pulling players darn and I like Philips, for his football.
So what happened with kitchen all that money and paid 1mill a year, should have at least had to put a lump down.
Pretty much about to hit his peak. If we're going to sell them around now would make sense - as long as we maximise his value. Anything under £4 million would be unacceptable. £5 million about right in the current market. £6 million+ and we'd be approaching "daft not to sell" territory. Whether anyone would pay that is debatable.
Looking at Preston's forum, they don't believe it's true. They've said that both them and Swansea always get linked with the same players, and that Phillips gets linked every window because he's from that neck of the woods, and his family are Preston fans. Bit similar to how Jordan Williams constantly got linked with a move back to Huddersfield whilst he was here.
Think our Higgy succession plan was initially putting Sheron in midfield and Lee Jones up front while we waited for Alex Neil to blossom into a creative genius who could bag 20 from midfield. Plans B to E when that failed; Kevin Dixon, Peter Sand, Chris Lumsdon and Gary Jones.
True, but we should have been persuading Pinnock to have 6 months with us in the Championship, see his stock rise and then get a bigger move than Brentford. Watford, Bournemouth, Palace, Southampton, Sheff U were all Premier League teams he'd have walked into at the time whereas Brentford weren't there. All the above may have happened anyway I realise but felt like we snatched at what we thought was his value.
