I would imagine it’s physically impossible for him to be worse than Sam Cosgrove, but that really shouldn’t be the metric we’re using. He’s not the answer to our problems. We would literally be better off playing Pines up front.
I genuinely believe that Pines would be a decent target man at this level. Strong, awkward, excellent in the air, seems to know where the net is.
Andy will always be remembered for that goal against Port Vale on opening day last season. Brilliant diving header to make it 7-0 and you rarely see that type of goal any more. That tells me that he has something about him, but maybe it won't be us that sees his potential fulfilled.
I wasn't seriously suggesting that we play Pines up front. I wouldn't stick Robbo up there either, but both of them have better goalscoring records than Cosgrove!
Sorry mate, read it wrong then. I agree he’s a handful at corners n free kicks, but different to holding ball up and such like a proper centre forward does. Definitely think about throwing in on last 10 minutes or so though instead of Cosgrove.
That was what I meant - didn't make myself clear. Definitely think he'd be worth sticking on up front late on when we're chasing the game as he'd be a proper nuisance. You'd think Cosgrove would be a nuisance, and that he'd hold the ball up well and bring others into play. He does neither.
Yep, he really did average only 38 minutes per game at a league 2 club. In fact that's including the Micky mouse cup where he got more minutes. In the actual league he only got 34 minutes per game on average when he played. He's racked up 4 goals in the 50 league games he's played since he signed for us a year and half ago.
In terms of playing time I assume looking from the outside other fans would be writing off that spurs lad we had on loan? Most Barnsley fans think he’s ok, just not the right man at the right time, maybe that’s the case for Dallas? I remember his cameo against port vale - didn’t look out of place and scored so who knows?
That diving header he scored against Port Vale was a belter, then with a swish of his cape - he was gone! Different manager at the club now though, and Clarke might just be having a look at him.
