Anybody got any tips for a reasonable price manchester airport trip. May be me but the nearly £200 I've been quoted really feels like a case of pants down assume the position...long time since I've used a taxi firm for this..
It's reasonable - 6 hours of drivings plus costs if you're going back and forth to Barnsley. Not get much change from 70 quid if you wanna park for a week either.
Trains are pretty reliable. Depending where you're based, one from the Airport to Meadowhall or Huddersfield then a taxi is a good option unless you're travelling 1am - 5am.
Prices to fly from Manchester are ridiculous Iv found (albeit our trips are usually to USA). For a family of 5 I save £1500 a trip by flying from Gatwick instead…£85 to park the car for 18 days
Last time I went by taxi it was £90 one way. Usually get the train, between £20 and £30 from Barnsley via Huddersfield, Meadowhall or Sheffield. Unless you've got an early departure or late arrival the train wins every time, unless there's 3 or 4 of you going.
Unless you're going for 2 weeks, always drive. Skyparksecure is the best imho for parking quotes, if you're T1 or T3 midstay is 5 mins walk park up and keep your keys and avoid your car being ragged up and down the M6.
I found the train easy just before Christmas, with the bonus of an hour on Sheffield Station to sample some of the offerings at the Sheffield Tap.
Uber just quoted me £70 one way to go now - or £120 for a UberXL. You might be able to get one cheaper - but it could go up at busy periods.
If you do decide to drive, look at the park on my drive apps. A lot cheaper and around ten minutes walk to the terminal.
If you’re paying to park, make sure you use a cashback site e.g. Quidco or Top Cashback. I just got £20 confirmed on Quidco before Christmas for our two weeks parking at Manchester Airport in summer.
£200 return from Durkar , worth it if you are going long haul otherwise it’s taxi to Dewsbury train station and a train through to Manchester Airport
Glad I checked this, I'm flying to Denmark on the 1st, been weighing up what's best, quoted about £60 for 7 days parking so think that might be best.
