Said it last week on a similar thread if we sell for 2 or 3 million with 2 and half year left we're idiots. Cost alot more than that to replace his goals and assists and we're in a good position we could get 2 million in the summer January is a sellers window if we're selling in the middle of a promotion campaign 5million.
Yeah, they'd hold out for £15m, get laughed at and sell for a tenth of that in 6 months. It's one strategy I suppose.
It’s no wonder we don’t get decent fees when even our own fans want to drag down a players ability who provides and scores plenty. It’s no wonder players aren’t arsed about sticking around either when they must hear opinions like some people have said about him. I can’t wait till his replacement doesn’t turn in anywhere near the output Adam currently does and then some people might start to realise what we no longer have.
Not entirely sure but. Chronicle Dec 2023 Barnsley have not sold a regular first team starter in January since Preston North End broke their club record for Brad Potts five years ago. That record may be tested next month. Devante Cole and Jordan Williams are yet to sign new contracts so could leave for free next summer, unless a bid arrives which tempts the Reds to sell in January. (2024) Chairman Neerav Parekh said it was ‘extremely unlikely’ that they would be sold next month and it is thought a seven-figure offer would be needed for Barnsley to part with their top-scorer or captain. Later in year 2024 Chronicle Chairman Neerav Parekh has since claimed that, in January, the Reds turned down bids for several players including those out of contract in the summer in order to keep the promotion push on track. Not sure, but weren't west brom sniffing around re Cole that January. I may have made that up in my head though. Players can talk to other clubs from 6 months prior to end of contract so nothing stopping Cole for example to have struck a deal with West brom. Explanation Free transfer A player can sign with any club that offers them a contract when their contract has expired or is about to expire. Bosman transfer A player can sign with a new club up to six months before their current contract expires. Pre-contract A player can agree to move to a new club at a later date, usually after their current contract expires. Williams signed for Pompey b4 his contract was up i believe. If it was due to run like most players to the end of June.
people who think phillips does nothing but score don't watch him close enough, alwaays in a position to recieve the ball and rarely makes the wrong decision, goes unnoticed because he isn't turning the ball over every two minutes makes a lot of simple passes then moves into space. Few players have the knack of getting on the end of things be careful what you wish for, money coming in for him won't be going all on new players thats for sure
Anything less than three months of Haarland's salary is clearly disproportionate to his goals and assists.
Our last few sales have brought in very decent fees. The current board may have their deficiencies but the days of selling cheap seem to be well and truly in the past.
And yet there isn't a single negative comment about Phillips in this thread other than yours having a go at the fans
There’s the usual doesn’t offer much more comment than goals & assists. What more to people want really for example?
It's hardly slagging him off to highlight the truth. He doesn't. He is brilliant at scoring and getting assists, brilliant at it. But he doesn't offer much in the all round gameplay. That's not a criticism it's just an observation. He works best in a team where the midfield is strong enough to allow him to focus on what he does excellently rather than one where he has to try to do the things that are the weaker side of his game and therefore taking away his ability to impact fully. If you consider that slagging him off to the point that there's no wonder players don't stick around and that they're being dragged down then so be it. I think it's simply being realistic. No player is brilliant at everything. It isn't negative to realise this and to comment on someone's strengths and weaknesses. It's certainly not negative to say he can play in the league above us or to say that they'd rather find out if he can with us than against us.
Didn’t this same manager basically not deny links to another job until they chose someone else and then he apologised to Swansea? If so, I think it’s clear he needs to work on his press conferences.
The 6 months rule only applies to pre contracts with "foreign" clubs, not domestic transfers. https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/wha...m-transfer-term-explained/blt5d41e839dacbcd34
