Yeah that's what I was getting at, and regardless of where he's from etc. It hasn't and it wasn't going to work out for him here.
He had 2 good games for us in 2 seasons. I think he's up there with conor Wilkinson, mido, odajayi etc I won't be too harsh on our players but when he leaves I'll tell you what i think about his time here. I hope he can turn his barnsley career round but time is ticking
Hope he does well. Not rated him but not to say he's not a likeable lad. 100% trier and hope he has a career in the game.
Yes that’s what I mean. So if he does well on loan it protects us as if we know there’s interest in him we can offer him a new deal whether we want to keep him or not. We did it years back with George Williams & George Smith but ended up withdrawing our contract offers as no club would pay compensation for them.
If we offer a contract we risk the position that the player just accepts and signs it. We can't just offer one and then refuse to let the player sign as we hang on to see if anyone is interested in taking him.
Yes but we’ll offer him the lowest possible wage that league clubs can offer. Thats what we did with Williams & Smith
I wonder if our ex-boss Neill Collins put a word in for him as he was Raith manager until just before Christmas.
Hope he can get some game time. He really needs to find a way to hit the back of the net. Struggles with his lack of pace to trouble the opposition
We can't do that. The new contract offer has to be on at least the same terms. If we offer him less then we don't qualify for compensation.
We didn't do that with Williams. We offered him the same terms but he wanted a slight improvement. What he wanted was only a very small improvement though, that's what they were unhappy about.
I didn’t realise that but I suppose it doesn’t matter anyway. If he does that well that we want some money for him then we aren’t going to have an issue offering one of the lowest earners at the club a contract on the same wage.
