If anything…….this game has shown us what most of us have thought all season.

Suspect at the back with no real finisher at the club.

The only thing Ben Killip has had to do all second half is pick the ball up out of his own net.

If I had a brick I’d have thrown it at the TV.

Clarke must be fuming tonight.

 

If we’d taken half our chances we would have won easily. Defensively we didn’t turn up.

 

Compare this back three to the one Duff had at this level. Wow.

 

It was only 2 weeks ago ,that I posted solid Defender needed in January window.
Several replies saying our defence is sound.
WTF

 

Bang on Baz, although it’s easy to say we need a goal scorer(and we really do), we definitely need a solid defence to gain promotion, not many teams have ever achieved it without one. Folks on here that say we have a decent defence can’t have ever played game for me mate.

 

Four straight wins can paper over the cracks a bit of course, and cover up the problems temporarily.
But the defensive problems have been there for ages now, and its just as important to sort that out, as it is the strikers.

 

I think our defense is good enough. We conceded 3 but should have scored about 15. Pines, Earl, Roberts, MDG & McCarthy are good enough for league one. I'd rather spend whatever money we have on a forward who can actually finish

 

Not many complaints over the last four games, Pines need's to be a regular for me, he's a natural defender.

 

Might I suggest a visit to Steve Jones at Monk Bretton.

 

I beg to differ about our defence being good enough . We aren't going to have many games where we could be scoring 15 goals but we do look capable of conceding 3 often.

 

Spot on ,how many teams in the football league can score 4 goals every week.
Our average is over 2 a game conceded.
Now if that is adequate defending ,I'm calling it a day.

 

That's fine. I'm not really sure who we can expect at this time in the window, especially when we need a very good striker to come in. I'd be all for another Andersen, Helik, Pinnock though

 

Over the last 46 league games we have conceded 70 goals, 70.

Only the bottom 3 in the table at the end of last season conceded more.

There's one constant in that amidst a wider malaise of recruitment of 'defenders' that can't defend.

 

I'd start by recalling our player back from loan who's getting rave reviews in the tier below, playing in a team who are 3 points off an automatic promotion place.

 

I just don't want him to waste game time if he's just going to sit on bench
