You do have to wonder who thought it was a good idea to bring him here! Nothing personal, but he just doesn't look up to it at this level.
Plenty did he came from Birmingham a championship side just been on loan at Plymouth who got promoted. Many on here thought it was a great signing.
Being honest I thought he was a good signing at the time given his success at Plymouth. He’s been a disaster though, barely resembles a professional footballer most of the time. Hard to see us shifting him even on loan before his contract runs down this summer.
I've never seen a player like it. Saturday I was thinking get watters off after all the misses, then he brings Cosgrove on he may aswell have left watters on or brought pines on or just Brought no one on he offers nothing like having a man down.
I thought he was the perfect signing for us when he joined. Proven goalscorer plus big and strong, all of which we were lacking. Then I saw him actually play for us……. I’m sure there’s player in there but for whatever the reason he’s not done it. Worst of all, he actually offers nothing. Watters misses a lot of chances but at least he works hard and leads the line. Cosgrove does none of that. I’d personally play any forward from our academy over him. Take Dyer as an example. If we play him he might do nothing and look totally out of his depth. If that was the case he’d offer exactly the same as Cosgrove so why not put the time and effort in to a player with potential.
Young Vimal looked half decent up front in a couple of cameos early season. I’d chuck him on as a sub up there before Cosgrove.
Me included, I prayed for him to come good, and although I've never slated him, I can't express enough, my disappointment for BFC and the lad himself.
Literally everyone on here for one. https://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/official-site-sam-cosgrove-signs-for-the-reds.324708/ Sometimes players don't work out. That's football.
I work with a lot of Plymouth fans and they they loved him coz he scored a couple against Exeter in their derby. Apart from that they said he wasn’t much good for them
With the greatest respect, the members of this board are not responsible for signing players. We are supposed to have proper professionals doing that. In my long association with the club I'm struggling to name more than a handful of players more apparently out of their depth. But while ever he's with us, and getting involved, I can only wish him well.
That's my exact feeling. I really want him to do well. He seems to have a first-class attitude and comes across as a genuinely good bloke. Just most of the time he looks nothing like a professional footballer.
Obviously, I understand that. But even so, he must have done well elsewhere for the recruitment team to go after him, and for people on here to consider him a good signing. Even in the summer, I don't think anyone envisaged him having such a poor season, given how he ended last year. Of the strikers still at the club, and before signing Humps and DKD, I'd have said he would have been our first choice striker.
I kept receipts https://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/threa...o-starting-line-up.331673/page-7#post-3324021 But you're right. Mine was a minority view. Apparently a year of him being rank as fuuck wasnt enough to make up most peoples minds.
