    Under 21s away at Emley on Wednesday night. Sheffield & hallmshjre cup 745pm ko 4 pound adult ticket. Be a cold one but should be a decent fixture.

    Thanks. Think that'll be me out on Wednesday. I assume they play at Emley and not some other ground. Eg Wakefield was one.

    They seem to be playing under the name of Barnsley CC …is that actually an U21 side from Barnsley FC ?

    It’s in centre of Emley next to the club.
    It’s just off the main road through the village ( Upper Lane )

    Not sure why it says that. Definitely Barnsley FC us, they’ve had some good results so far. Josiah Dyer probably the standout performer. Imagine if they got to the final it would be at Oakwell, normally play the finals at Wednesday or United though.

    When ar wor a lad (here he goes)...all the local pro clubs entered the County Cup, and we were treated to some genuine competitive cup ties, with the added spice that they were always local derbies.

    I think we used to play in the old West Riding cup as Barnsley qualified at the time

    Never knew that mate. But found this to my surprise.

    Final
    1913-14 F: 1-0 Barnsley v. Bradford City
    ------------5th November 1913

    Although most of south Yorkshire (if not all) was located in the west riding. So I'm guessing all our south Yorkshire clubs qualified. But most if not all joined the Sheffield and Hallamshire version in the 1920s. I don't think they would have played in both from then on. ?

    It's exactly like that, the club's stated intention is to give the youngsters competitive football against senior players.

    Lost 3-2 after being twice in front. Emley fully deserved to win. The far better side in the 2nd half. Attendance was a little disappointing I'd have thought. Circa. 270.

    I get we played our young lads but we still lost to a non league side that's so far down the pyramid, they are nowhere near getting in to the Football League.

    Not a great result is it.
