You appear to be mixing up Alan Shearer and Paulo Di Canio. Who sometimes did a very similar salute to celebrate scoring - the Italian Roman salute made famous by Mussolini...
“Rule #1: Believe the autocrat. He means what he says. Whenever you find yourself thinking, or hear others claiming, that he is exaggerating, that is our innate tendency to reach for a rationalization. This will happen often: Humans seem to have evolved to practice denial when confronted publicly with the unacceptable.”
True, but there's no rhyme or reason to be spending money outside election times, I can't think of any examples tbh.
Musk cant' be president but he's just bought one -tesla shares have fallen thanks toTrump stopping subsidies for ev cars and delaying ticktock mmm and now gthey oing to mars buy prob not in this universe but Trump could deport him as we is on an immigration paasport i believe lol
But a hopeful candidate is still exerting time and effort to be selected and after a soft endorsement building up a base in an area. I'd recommend the book I mentioned, it goes into much more detail more eloquently than I've outlined, it interviewed a really wide range of MP's and candidates to understand the systems and mechanisms that we don't see. I can't recall the exact detail as it's a good few years since I read it, but I'm pretty sure there were examples of candidates who gave up after several goes being thousands and thousands in debt.
What a world we live in where the richest man in the world can blatantly do a nazi salute at a political rally and absolute utter ******* morons will still defend him.
Tariffs for Canada, Mexico and China, cancelling all diversity and inclusions jobs and programmes, publicly and childishly abusing a Bishop who spoke truth to him. For anyone who thought he'd have managed to control his worst impulses and wouldn't do some of the extreme things he said, I think he's probably proven that's unlikely to be the case.
Bloke who has spent the last 12 months or so cosying up to far right causes across the globe does a blatant and enthusiastic straight arm salute on stage after effectively taking power. iT's LiKe aLaN sHeArEr CeLeBrAtInG a gOaL
Not much more than other people who are expected to live and work in two separate locations get. If they had to pay their own expenses, the only people in Parliament would be multi-millionaires. As an example, its £220 from Doncaster to London, plus 3-4 nights in a hotel, plus food and you're looking at the best part of £1000 per week for a local MP just to attend Parliament. Those in Northern Ireland or Scotland could have to pay double that.
£119 for a single from Doncaster arriving in London before 10 with LNER and the same coming back between 4pm and 6:30pm on Friday. You can travel cheaper, but only if you book in advance - and you might not be able to guarantee leaving at a particular time.
To be fair arriving and leaving at normal working times i got about £150 from Doncaster to london by train tomorrow with a return. That’s not first class or anything, just a regular ticket arriving at about 8am and leaving at about 6pm.
Out of interest, did you book in advance? Whenever I've gone to London from Donny it's been three figures - and that's with booking a decent time in advance I thought.
