I’m so incredibly thankful we voted the Tories out at the last election. We’ve got members of the last government casually tweeting that we should scrap the Equality Act to save millions of pounds.

Yup. Which is either leave your family on Monday afternoon/early evening for a cheaper train fare and an extra night down there *or* set off on Tuesday morning and pay the higher train fares but save one night accommodation.

It might be Sunday/Monday, because I can't remember when Parliament actually sits and what days they have other meetings and work down there.

Trump hasn't actually scrapped their equivalent. He's overturned the 1965 Executive Order, but not the 1973 Act that would need Congress to write a new law to overturn. So its going to be more legal challenges, and more things tied up in court.

You don't have to pay £220 to get the train to London from Doncaster. You just don't. I can't believe how many times you've been given evidence of this yet you continue to refuse to accept it. You've just got to organise yourself. That's easy when you're a politician as you know when parliament sits.

I just put a random date into trainline. It's nothing close to what you claim, even to get to London in the morning.

Surely the metric that matters is the overall cost. Getting a cheaper train ticket would usually mean an extra night in a hotel which removes any cost saving from the cheaper train ticket

Actually i forgot MPs can get expenses for a second home in london if their constituency isn’t there, so that’s a valid point.

Did Musk get to name this new department he's fronting?
    DOGE?
So the same name as the crypto coin he frequently manipulates with his online endorsements. His personal holding and Space X's holding is rumoured to be around 25% of the coins value.....billions.
The same crypto coin that is up nearly 400% in the last year.

He’s also a huge defender of free speech. Which is why Twitter is banning anyone who posts that he is a Nazi.

Yes it's all a scam. In Trump he found someone equally morally corrupt that will promote him and let him steal these billions off people if he gets his slice.

How anybody can be so contemptable as a human to vote for that rotting sack of excrement i will never understand, but some people are.

Rapist defending Nazis, every single one of them.

This is the best thread ever.

‘Trumps Inauguration’ is now split between the rise of fascism and an argument about UK rail fare pricing policy.

I’m going to divert it further with….

‘Can AI really help fix potholes?

    Or….

Are Israeli actions in the West bank intended to break the Gaza ceasefire?

    Come on…

'Help fix potholes' as in 'identifying areas that need to be fixed.'

    Come on...

Trump said he’d end the war in Ukraine in a day. But in latest news, he’s threatened Putin with sanctions, taxes and tariffs. I bet Putin is terrified….

So, even if the cupboard is £22 billion emptier than you thought it was when you wrote your manifesto and got elected, you would carry on with the policies that were made on the assumption that the £22 billion was still there? That was pretty much what the lettuce did and look what happened...

That's in March. Typically, for business you don't know if you'll be going on a specific date in March so you can only book it towards the time of departure. In which case you are looking at:

    upload_2025-1-23_8-11-54.png

Depending on the train, between £163 and £228.60. And the Friday morning prices will probably rise later in the week.

That is a night away from the family though. Most people would rather spend the extra night at home and go on the early train the next morning.
