Better than Hey Jude. It gets sung at away matches. I think we should have a different one each match until something takes off
Couple of years ago, myself and my colleague contacted the Civic Green lads and asked if they’d write a song about Barnsley. They were delighted to be asked, and already had a song in the works that they were happy to reshape here and there to fit the brief. Great lads. Barnsley band. It made sense. To us anyway. Once they recorded it, we had them down and my colleague filmed the music video to accompany it. We were all super proud of our efforts. And it seemed to go down well with supporters. Sadly, others at the club weren’t keen and it was dropped pretty quickly. I might be biased, but it’s miles better than trotting out Hey Jude or Country Road, that are done at many other clubs.
Really dull and uninspiring, does nothing to lift the team or atmosphere and old fashioned too. It reflected the insipid performance today completely. Hate it.
I don’t mind country road. Certainly better than Hey Jude, which seems like every team in England sings.
But at least people sing to it, they don’t sing to country roads as it’s dull as ditchwater so kills the build up.
I think you need to use something that is already sung in the stands. Hey Jude never was. But the ponty always sing You are my Barnsley
That's not the songs fault it's the absolute ***** fans, that gangway 1 of the Ponty is embarrassing. I sat with an old boy today and we talked about the singing sections over the decades - my 12 year old son was also sat with us. In the 80s the lads at the away end of the brewery, then the 90s and the lads that moved to the back of the Ponty, central between the exit. The Ponty was rebuilt and the singers were originally around the Ora band area - all great support. Whatever that support is at the minute is absolutely shocking - l turned to the young un and said l hope that you and your mates at school take over from this lot in a few years. The songs before games are becoming a bit of a thing at the minute, Forest with Mull of Kintyre, Coventry - Live and Die in this town, Blades - Greasy Chip Butty, Leicester - fire etc etc, at least the club are trying something. They can't help the support, the young un even started singing to me "football in a library" in the first half, taking the piss out of his own supporters
