Another awful signing. Can’t take a man on, can’t cross a ball and constantly lost possession.

Genuinely looked like a competition winner today.

On the pitch for a small amount of time and managed to mess up half a dozen times.

He's been having a decent season, terrible today though.

I wouldn't criticise him too much, he's a young un and he'll learn

Thought Farrugia on the other hand looked very promising

He played the same pass five times and gave it away five times. It wasn’t even a tough ball to play.

Compounded it by doing it just before the goal, tracking back, before falling flat on his arse letting them have a free cross into the box which they scored from.

That and the fact when he got on the ball and didn’t pass it he couldn’t run with it either.

Dross. The fact we have dragged someone from the league of Ireland and thrown him straight in - and looked so much worse after he was subbed off - doesn’t say a lot for the ability of Gent.

He’s 20 isn’t he? Had some good and bad performances which is what you’d expect at that age. Today was the latter unfortunately.

He’s a lad with potential but he really needs coaching.
He’s so predictable. Always tries to beat the man on the outside - which more often than not results in a turnover of possession. He needs to mix it up. It’s not like he’s blessed with blistering pace.
Farrugia at least keeps defenders guessing.

Exactly this, he's a young lad who's developing.
The blame lies with the recruitment last summer for not bringing someone in who is ready for the here and now of a promotion push.
Considering wingbacks are a massive part of our play it's almost neglect.

He's a professional footballer, he should be able to kick it at least, costs us far more goals than he creates

Which of the squad would get in another top 4 side in this league? Phillips on his day that's it.

You must have watched enough football to know that, professional or not, they’re human beings and not perfect. Particularly those playing for Barnsley in the third tier. At 21.

It’s all well and good saying that but the lad is 21 years of age, he’s not a teenager.

He gave the ball away with simple passes on multiple occasions. He tried without success to go outside their right back several times.

In fact he did nothing right whatsoever when he came on.

He’s come through a professional academy at Blackburn, he’s played a full season in Scotland, he’s played twenty odd games for us.

Being in footballing terms relatively young is not mitigation for the fundamental issues in his game.

It isn’t his fault we signed him and his limitations aren’t his fault - but has he actually had a good game? I can remember him doing ok, but no better.

As a wing back you’d expect he’d get balls in to the box and so on - he hasn’t got a single assist in the league.

He’s not quick. He’s not tall. He’s not a great defender. He can’t pass the ball.

I’m not writing him off - he hasn’t always been dross as he was today and he can be coached on a bit in terms of varying his approach and defending. But I’m not suspecting he’ll end up being the greatest.
