It's weird because when we're bad we're really bad but we're also capable of being brilliant too. Lack of consistency is definitely a problem.
Today wasn't his worst game. It really wasn't. He's been worse previously. He's a young lad so maybe he'll get better, but his performances thus far haven't been close to what is required. That's why Clarke has been very reticent to play him. But then Clarke got abuse on here for not for not playing him, so... That Gent isn't ready for this league isn't his fault. That in the first half of the season the only recognised left sided player we had was Gent is not Clarke's fault. There is a fault here though, a massive one. I personally think it's those who employed a data analysist as our director of football.
I think you've hit the nail smack on the head. I was hoping that Clarke would have had more input into signings that can improve us this window but it's hard to tell so far.
I’ve said all season that it’s a disgrace that he was the only left wing back recruited last summer but he’s also got to do better. That was terrible today. George Smith was a local lad who ultimately wasn’t good enough for league football & I never saw him play that bad despite being less experienced. I’m sure he’ll come back from it like he did when he got dragged off in a couple of the games early in the season.
Honestly I can’t believe there wasn’t a free transfer left back that would have been good to go from the start of the season. He’s crap can’t defend and absolutely toilet going forward.
I think he’s had a decent season but today was a shocker. You’d think with him finally having some competition for the left wing back slot, it would improve him. I’m sure we’ll see much better from him soon.
Come on mate I get people like local lads to do well but George Smith had plenty of games just as bad as that.
I never saw him play that bad. I saw him have plenty of games where he looked one of the worst, if not the worst player in the team but I never saw him look that far out of his depth.
Omar Marmoush didn't make his pro debut until he was nearly 21 for Wolfsburg. In 2 weeks he turns 26, and has just gone for over 50 million to one of the best clubs in the world. There's a mega-****-tonne of learning done in the early twenties. To write him off (not saying you are, but Scott did, and I'm sure others) is insane.
