Sad to report that the above Lady who many remembered when I was searching for her former pupils many moons ago, passed over to spirit Sunday morning 0300 after a short illness in Barnsley hospital.
Thankfully she passed peacefully in her sleep.
She was 96 years of age
An amazing Lady who until recently could still recite the Latin propositions to the ablative case which she learnt aged 10 to where about in class former pupils sat and who's names she could still reel off as if she'd just done the school register that morning.
RIP Marrion much loved and sadly missed.

You were there when I was.
What age would it have been when Kier St. took in pupils. I went to St. Mathews initially but can’t remember when we moved on.

It was a traditional junior school, ages 7-11 (ish, depending on dob). I joined after the Xmas 1959 end of term break, 3 months short of my 8th birthday. I transferred from Athersley junior, when we moved house. I left in summer 1963 at 11 to go to Broadway.
Teachers I remember were Mrs Ramsey, Mrs Jameson, Mrs Houtby and Frank Hook the Head.
I'm pretty sure we know each other.
