He was on his knees I was wondering why Clarke didnt sub him for fresh legs. He waited till he was hurt walking off before getting fresh legs on WTF.
Pines reminds me a lot of Mads Andersen. Does the basics well enough, but has one massive flaw, which when targeted, makes him completely useless. For both of them, it's the ball over the top. Mads used to deal with it slightly better than Donnie does. I'm not sure what you (or anyone else for that matter) sees in McCarthy though. Aside from a couple of games just after he came back from injury, he's no better than any of the other centre halves at the club.
I'm not digging him out as such, more responding to several calls over the last few weeks for him to go back into the side ahead of MDG and Pines as though that's the reason we've been losing games. It's clear to me, as it was in the summer, that the priority is to sort out our back line. Regardless of the lack of fire power specifically from the strikers, the most pressing issue for me should be to address the number of goals we're conceding. It was a problem last season, and all that was done to address it was to bring in a 34 year old injury prone defender, something which I think would have received more criticism had it not been Marc Roberts. I've tried to avoid criticising Clarke too because of the hand he's dealt, but last week he said that the lack of clean sheets we've kept isn't an issue because we're still scoring. That's a red flag. With the squad we have, we can't rely on outscoring the opposition.
I said the exact same thing after Duff left, I actually renewed my season ticket before Wembley, but then decided to get a refund after Duff left & the squad was dismantled. I said I would go to more away games & pick & choose the home games. I’ve been to 3 home games since, & that’s it. Not one this season. I have no desire to visit Oakwell anytime soon, it’s soulless.
Correct Tarntyke clearly see Connell pulling his shirt and Pines running at the side so player decides to go down no way a penalty
Any news on the injuries to Humphrys and Watters? Saturday's frontline may be Dallas, Lofthouse and Cosgrove. That should build on the 2 goals in the last 3 games.
Really don't rate Pines' he managed to bag himself a couple if goals early in his Barnsley career and its made him into a bit of a cult figure U S A etc' last night he looked like a sunday league defender very naive and way out of his depth' that said they all looked out of their depth.
