Harsh he is now 2nd choice. Im not his biggest fan but think he has done rather well. Dont deserve to be dropped. Dont get why we signed this keeper when its the last position we need
Killip can’t kick or claim crosses clearly Clarke thinks this new kid can do that better Killip was made aware in December we would bring in a new number 1 this hasn’t come as a shock to him
We don't know what goes on behind the scenes. Ben might have been told all along that he's not first choice. In which case he has stood in admirably. He also might be content being a #2 with no current intention of living with the pressure of #1. We don't know.
It may be harsh and he may be disappointed. He may well, though, have been playing well due to having no long term pressure, knowing he’s not long term number one. We don’t know. We also don’t know Gauci will definitely play Saturday. We assume so - but it might be that Killip plays until Gauci is fully integrated into the squad.
He made some good saves v stevenage but his positioning was shocking for there goal. 3rd season in a row the 2nd half of the season our number 1 will be a loanee
Doesn’t really matter whether we own them or are on loan - as long as whoever is playing is the right option. The one from two seasons ago is now second choice at Burton Albion - he was initially great for us but for me Collins should have been brought back in for him before the playoffs as his form had waned. Isted had a good game at Wembley - until he didn’t. Ultimately the last kick (well, header) of the game went in - and he really ought to have saved it. Everything went against us that day, but that doesn’t lessen that fact.
I would argue it wasn't his positioning it was his decision making that let him down should not have made an attempt at getting something on the cross and gone straight along his line and attempt a save
He’s average, not bad, but not great, & for a Goalkeeper that’s okay, especially when there are other pressing matters. Like a couple of strikers. The club need to get their priorities in order.
Doesn't really matter build when a club builds a model on buy and sell its dead money especially players like Gaga who turned out gash.
In league 1, I think you can get away with a pretty average squad that is well organised, pretty consistent and with a handful of top quality players, largely in midfield and up front. Your goalkeeper can be steady and you'll be fine if every where else is OK. If the new lad was the best keeper in the world, we're still going to concede easy chances and invite pressure through defensive mistakes and therefore concede goals at the same rate. The roofs leaking and we've decided we want a new kitchen.
Trust me,we won't be signing any credible strikers.Quote on Tuesday morning,we tried very hard to get a striker over the line but it just wasn't possible (rinse repeat).
Can't kick? Really?? A two footed keeper - we've never had one of them before, it's difficult to work out which one is the stronger foot. I'm not his biggest fan but l think he's done well recently, if it wasn't for him the scorelines would have been bigger. And why is he suddenly number 2? I'd consider the new signing back up, he's barely played any mens games - or are we going down that suicidal route again? The last young international worked out well.
Again, what would you deem a 'credible' striker? Bearing in mind it's the January window where the majority of transfers are loans unless you're prepared to pay over the odds for a player.
Considering how Slolina turned out, I think Killip’s done ok to be fair. He may have been at fault for some of the goals we’ve conceded, but he’s kept us in games also. Yet here we are, desperate for some firepower up top and we sign another loan keeper from a PL club. I’m hoping he’s more of a success than Gaga was.
Odd job scores a great goal against Chelsea, puts it wide at Wembley, but nobody else would av scored that against Chelsea,I'd sooner get in play offs and lose than not getting in play offs at all.
Absolutely spot on. Isted should have saved that goal at Wembley. And, tbf, he came into a confident team with a £8m defence in front of him. It’s when the chips are down - then you start to see who the proper keepers are. Roberts being the same last season. Both are bench warmers now…..
I find it strange that the club reckon Smith isn’t ready, as he’s only played 30 games for Walsall/Grimsby, but we’re happy to bring in someone (without seeing them in the flesh) and call him number one, having played 180 minutes of football over here. And 70 games in a league that’s below the EFL in terms of standard. Australian international. Granted. They’ve played the likes of Bahrain, China and Palestine. Look, he might well be a superb ‘keeper, a great addition. But he’s here for a few months and then presumably we are left with just Smith (as they clearly don’t rate Killip, despite him being better than the last international Prem ‘keeper they borrowed). It’s all so confusing and dispiriting.
