to achieve 76 points which may or may not just scrape into the playoffs we need another 34 pts from 18 games left Our best run of 18 games this season is 29 pts 8 wins 5 draws 5 losses our worst run is 26 pts 7 wins 5 draws 6 losses So we have to perform better than we have done all season. Mid table mediocrity looms despite DC's optimism Realistically the club should already be planning for next season and making some tough decisions on who stays and who goes
Try to win every game and see where it takes us. You're cutting your nose off in spite of your face. You can still try and plan for next season and try to win games this season. It doesn't have to be one or t'other?
I just don't see us being able to do better than we already have-not that I wouldn't like us to win every game !!
Things might look better when transfer window shuts and if we get on a run. It's ten wins from 18 games. Can finish with as many as 18 defeats and still get to 72 points.
I'm sure they are more than ready to plan for more losses in L1 next season by selling our better players. However those players are currently proving to be not much cop, hence no ones interested in them.
It'll be first January I can remember where I'm only bothered about the potential loss of one player (Phillips). You're spot on about the rest of the squad. No saleable assets is a big problem when trying to freshen things up.
On the plus side we should easily get the 8 points we need to almost certainly guarantee safety from relegation
We've lost and drawn way too many at home already to stand any serious chance of the play offs. Our away form is starting to stutter with other teams around us finding some form.. even as far down as Rotherham. Folk can say whatever they like but the teams with the best budgets will be at the top and the poorest will be at the bottom.. And us in the "just dip a toe in" camp will be in the middle.. Peterborough have done the same as us. Sold there better players and replaced em with "maybes".. and Darragh bragging about having the youngest team in the league... And look where they are.. last two play offs like us...
To be fair looking at the last five year’s tables we don’t even need that. Fifty points is practically lower mid table. Another three or four points would likely be enough. That said I would like to get to fifty asap… I can’t see us getting to seventy points or anywhere near getting top six, but you never know. Window is open until Monday, we might sign a gem.
We'll miss out this season, been doing my best to think were good enough, but just lately i cant see it, at best 73 points, Keep the faith, [ mines teetering ],C,O,Y,R.
Tomorrow could be pivotal. Anything less than a win and the prevailing feeling will be that the season is over. No doubt there’ll be calls for the manager to go and it could easily descend into a downward spiral. A win and a good performance is much needed tomorrow.
After the run of 4 wins in a row, and who knows if it would have been 5 ehh if the Northampton game wasn't snowed off. I would never have thought we might then lose 4 or more in a row, but there's a real danger of it now. And that's making the Play offs look more unlikely I'm afraid.
Most ppl said if we fail to buy a striker we wont make top6. I think watters and humphreys have 4 each in league in 28 games. Woeful returns. Strikers who dont score. DKD is not a striker more of a CAM. Midfield scores vast majority of our goals. From outside looking in we wont score enough to make a challenge for promotion.
We've played the season so far with an awful forward line (most goals come from elsewhere), and tomorrow looks like we'll be lucky to have 50% of those available, and no new additions.
