…I know this will come across as another negative post from me but hey-ho….

‘the ****’s happened to it? I’ve seen cow-pits in a better state! Who’s taking responsibility for that then, is this another thing to add to the list of standard slipping?

This was the pitch on 22nd March 23 btw before anyone says ‘it always cuts up this time of year’, it was like a carpet that night…

The sprinkler at the Ponty half seemed to break at half time, leading to a decent sized puddle that one man was furiously pricking with a fork.
We commented at the start the pitch doesn't look as good this year. Maybe the wet weather taken its toll.

It has been broken for weeks. Every match the same sprinkler ***** up and floods the pitch. Next match looks at that area before kick off and you'll see it's drenched

It’s just the general state of Oakwell, it’s been in a rapid decline for well over a decade. Unless money gets spent then Oakwell & the surrounding area will only worsen, until it gets condemned, unfit for purpose. It wasn’t long ago the west stand closed remember.

Maybe thats what the owners want. Who knows?

Yeah that’s definitely what the owners want. They want to spend 10s of millions on running it into the ground, to the point that it gets condemned and closed.

Must admit; watching the game on the box, the ground looked tired. The atmosphere was appalling too.

Atmosphere and performance are intrinsically linked.

What ? The council. ?. It's not in the clubs best interest. As they are only in effect tenants. On a shortish term lease.
Whatever you may think of Oakwell it's not the best but not the worst by a country mile. Eg. Give me the well over the sty and Bell End Rd, who's facilities for away fans especially, and home fans are among the worst.

    Not necessarily.
Been to many a game down the years where the fans get behind the team, despite the team being crap.

Possibly can’t repair it mid-season due to pitch damage it’ll cause?

Maybe if more folk attended the atmosphere might change a little? Who knows, but criticising the atmosphere ( if you’re able to go, and just don’t want to) seems a little hypocritical to me

As far as criticising the atmosphere goes ( if you’re able to go and just don’t want to) then it does seem hypocritical
