And not just us, all clubs say it. So why not shorten the transfer window to one week and stop the pissing about for a month annoying and frustrating fans
Which other organisation has such a restriction of business? Sky sports news falls over itself for days like tomorrow . I find it pathetic
You’re absolutely right. No player in their right mind would sign before the end of the window (or their agent wouldn’t let them) unless it’s an offer at a footballing level or financially substantially higher than they think they’d get otherwise. In the summer it’s slightly different because players might want to get in before the start of the season, but once the season starts there’s unlikely to be any moves until deadline day. I guess the answer is it gives them a month to negotiate on deals and a month for players/selling clubs to put clubs against each other in a bidding war. Could probably do that with a shorter window but allow negotiations in the weeks leading up though. would probably be better for everyone. Won’t happen though, Sky want the month of transfer speculation and a reason for people to turn it on and see if anything has happened.
That makes absolute sense. Never thought of it myself either! While we're at it, why not make that week the winter break? And make the summer deadline the day before the start of the season? That way, we can completely eradicate the uncertainty of playing games while the transfer window is in progress.
I think it would be nice if they staggered it down the leagues. Deadline day for Prem, the day later for Champ, the day after that for L1 and the day after that for L2. This way, any team filling their squad higher up the chain may then be more open to loaning / selling out fringe players to teams lower down the leagues.
This got asked on the Overlap to a football agent iirc. Basically the logistics, medicals, finances and insurance put a stop to it being a short window, especially when its international
