So, we've brought a loan keeper in and sold our current no.1, so in the summer it's back to square one, yeah?
Apart from we don't own our number 1 any more, so in theory are one loan recall away from being in the brown stuff.
Good move for him - deserves it. He’s 30 years old this year, and comes from down south anyway. He’s at the top of his game currently, but it’s not quite enough for top L1 level. He’ll go there as a sub keeper, be on a better and longer contract, which is what he needs at this time in his life. Can’t fault him or the club for this move - makes perfect sense really for both parties. Not knocking the lad, but he’s not our long term answer - and the club made that known in the summer.
Could it be something to do with the time he was seen sat in A+E at Christmas with a facial injury? Was it a broken nose?
Hang on, I thought we all agreed that Jackson Smith was our long term number one and we should be starting Flavell over Killip anyway cos he was garbage against Leyton Orient…
He's only got a contract there until the end of this season. He hasn't gone there for a long contract.
I suspect he’ll have something lined up to improve that length if they aren’t relegated and he does well.
So we to have to really on a loan goalie for rest of season with very little experience unless someone else coming in.
Good luck to him. And he has definitely put a shift in recently. But I didn't think he was much good. Not that I would ever dream of saying that to him, but pretty sure he won't be reading this.
I think he feels shafted by the club and he’s justified in that thinking. He has shown in his performances that he more than holds his own at this level and goalkeeper was not in the top five positions we needed to address - they’ve brought another premier league loanee in - after the last one was a disaster. Good luck Ben. All the best lad. I despair at this club. That business is a complete waste of time. Does it improve us? Arguably. Minimally. But why waste the time and effort there? We know what we need. A goalkeeper wasn’t it - and what do we do next season?
Killip was never a long term solution. I’m surprised that he’s off like, but as Jay states above, he wasn’t much cop. Made some decent saves at times, but the disaster vs Orient will take some forgetting.
