Barnsley Football Club can confirm that striker Sam Cosgrove has joined Stockport County on loan until the end of the season. The former Aberdeen and Birmingham City player joined the Reds in September 2023 and has gone on to score 7 goals in 60 appearances, including three goals across both legs play-off semi finals against Bolton back in May. Sporting Director, Mladen Sormaz said, “Sam’s contract expires in the summer and so this loan move may well signal the end of his time at Barnsley and on behalf of everyone at the Club I’d like to thank him for his professionalism and positive attitude during his time here.” Continue reading...
He’s poor but why we letting him go to a team competing to get in the play offs? They obviously think he adds something for them. This club baffles me it really does.

We are desperately short on strikers but I can honestly say, I’m delighted Cosgrove isn’t one of the options anymore. He’s been a massive disappointment. I hope for his sake he does well and regains some of his form but my word, he offered us absolutely nothing when he played so it’s hardly much of a loss from our perspective.
