Fair enough we've not got a great hand right now. But we've played it so badly I can't even begin to explain it. We're probably not awash with cash, which definitely explains not signing players like Jay Rodriguez. But not being willing to match Mansfield for Jordan Rhodes' almost certainly very modest wages, together with loaning out our existing strikers and not replacing them at all, is absolutely crackpot.

I’m sure someone will be along to defend them but it’s just unbelievable. Indefensible if we have any ambition whatsoever to make the playoffs.

Jordan Rhodes has done absolutely nothing this season. Signing him to pander to fans who just want anybody in isn't the way to run a football club.

I’m not sure anyone can defend them mate. If I was to try, I’d have to be armed with some idea of how they’re trying to work things, but I haven’t a clue.

I’m baffled mate for sure. Everyone knows we needed to strengthen up front and I understand we don’t have much cash but surely we could’ve taken a loan or two?
This French lad is as random a signing as you could dream up. He might not even get a work permit for a month.

In general I agree. But Rhodes would objectively be a much better signing than nobody.

Let's see who scores more between now and the end of the season. Rhodes or Clement Attlee.

We've been left with such striking options now that there is a school of thought that we could have jettisoned Stead, and splashed out on a striking coach that could invest some time and effort into Cosgrove.
In fact, sod the coach. A sports hypnosis session playing him the Bolton game on loop until he knows it by heart.

And I say this wishing all the best to the new lad; I'm going to watch him with interest.

If he doesn't score goals or provide assists (0 and 1 respectively in 21 games) is he really?

Look at it this way, our playoff rivals Mansfield and Stockport have signed a striker with 0 goals and Sam Cosgrove. In the league above, playoff-chasing Blackburn have signed a player some were doubtful would improve us. Doesn't that indicate a dearth of quality forwards?

That's a fair point. Which makes it all the more bizarre that we've loaned out Andy Dallas, who clearly has at least some semblance of knowledge as to where the net is.

I agree, he should have got a chance in front of Cosgrove.

Seems a last minute ditch re the striker. Good luck to the lad. But I can't fathom why this one took so long given the option to buy.
The wolves signing appears to me as a waiting to see what options were open to him. As is the norm.

If in another month we see no significant improvement and envisage another season in league one. We have to be talking then to those out of contract at the end of the season offering a decent salary and pre contract getting em in the door early. Or closing that avenue down and going to the next one.
