Think we all know that Clarke wouldn’t have had a player from a French 2nd division team on his shortlist of players to bring in and i really hope he’s honest enough to say that. It beggars belief that we couldn’t recruit a young championship player on loan from anywhere to help us out.
DC won't be able to say a dickie bird about anything in a manner he'd probably like to without being in breach of contract. It would be "You're fired. Oh, and if you talk about why you were fired, you'll be sued. And unemployable" So all we'll hear from DC is measured "Listen, we'd have loved to have got a couple more into the football club, but transfer windows are hard work; ask any other club in the league"
The fact that 4 players came in or out of the club yesterday and there's been no comment on it from DC or Mladen speaks volumes. Clarke can't possibly be happy with this window.
Exactly this. He'll be absolutely raging at what went on (or didn't go on more to the point) yesterday. Absolutely no comment whatsoever from the manager, DOF or owners after a transfer window is pretty odd (if things are rosey). Each one knows that they've royally F-d up and that vast numbers of the fanbase are very, very angry. The silence is well and truly deafening. We are still getting the tone-deaf X posts, showing us our new lads as though the ar*e hasn't completely fallen out of the Club.
Looking forward to the Stockport presser to hear what the Gilet Genius says about it all. His words will be covered in that much spin, we will go dizzy.
I'll wait and see what's said, however to me he's been completely painted into a corner. I'd be raging if I was in his shoes. If he walked I wouldn't blame him one bit. He's always said he wasn't a Yes man, so it'll be interesting to hear from him.
I hope not, because I think if he does it'll be a lie. I will accept he can't just come out and outright slate the club, but he also doesn't have to pretend either. "we've got to work with who we've got", "we will make sure everybody is fighting in the same corner" stuff like that would be what I expect to hear from him. Maybe, hopefully, I'll be completely wrong and these new players with turn the club around and bring us some form, but as of yet, I think he's been done poorly.
Agreed. When fans haven't heard of a player before, they are obviously rubbish or they would have done..... Nobody knew Nwakali before he signed and after one game he was talked up like the Messiah. Hopefully our new guys will be the same after a game or two. Gauci had a decent debut.
I get what you’re saying and we all definitely need to wait to see him play before writing him off. Comparisons with Nwakali are poor though. He’s previously been player of the tournament at a youth World Cup, signed by Arsenal and Porto, played in the highest Spanish and Portuguese leagues. He may not have been a household name to us but he’s certainly got a lot of pedigree.
Really feel for Clarke, he's not perfect but my goodness I think we'd be in worse shape with someone who didn't understand the league, hope the fanbase stick by him and show him a bit of love right now. Inevitably questions around recruitment will unfairly IMO come his way, whilst the circus remains in hiding, I've no doubt the excuses of failed deals will surface over the coming days/weeks, 111 days to end up with giving the head coach less options than he started with, we're not even talking any sort of improvements here or judging quality, but just the pure numbers alone, an injury to Humphrys or DKD and we are really struggling.
He'll be told to tow the line " we worked really hard to get people through the door but it just wasn't to be" " but we've got 2 lads in that we've been monitoring for a long time"...
No will say he's very happy with the new signings as they'll tell him to say that as he's employed by them.
