Davis Keillor-Dunn netted his twelth goal of the campaign late on against Stockport County at Edgeley Park, but it wasn't enough to overturn the hosts' two goal advantage acquired in the first half. The home side started well with a ball played into the box from the right flank, but shouts for a handball halted the attack. Both teams displayed good spells of possession in the opening 10 minutes of the first half, but neither created shots on target. In the 14th minute, Joe Gauci made his first save, easily collecting a left-footed shot from Lewis Bate outside the box. A great ball from Luca Connell found Davies Keillor-Dunn on the left wing, but his run was stopped by the Stockport right back. Corey O’Keeffe switched the ball over to Earl on the left who played it down the wing to Connell who beat the defender, but his cross was over everyone waiting in the box and went out for a goal kick. Stockport broke the deadlock with a goal from Tanto Olaofe in the 31st minute of the game. A misjudged tackle from Donovan Pines in the Barnsley back line allowed Olaofe in on goal. Taking his shot early, the number nine smashed the ball past Gauci. Just minutes later, Barnsley was under pressure and after a foul committed by Earl in the box, Stockport was awarded a penalty. Will Collar stepped up to the spot, making no mistake, he slotted the ball into the bottom left corner doubling his team’s lead in the 35th minute. Half Time: Barnsley 0-2 Stockport County Debutant Clément Rodrigues was replaced by Neil Farrugia at half-time. Keillor-Dunn had Barnsley’s first real chance of the game in the 55th minute, but his shot from inside the box curled wide of the right post. Adam Phillips had a shot from outside the box, but it was straight at the Hatters 'keeper from range. Keillor-Dunn found himself in space just outside the box soon after, but again, his shot was a comfortable save for Ben Hinchliffe. The Reds had their best chance of the game in the 60th minute, when Keillor-Dunn played a good ball into the box which found Jon Russell, however, his header forced Hinchliffe into a diving save down to his right, keeping the hosts' numerical advantage intact. Dexter Lembikisa replaced Kelechi Nwakali in the 64th minute, making his Reds debut after arriving on deadline day from Wolves. Russell had another chance to get his team back in the game, winning a header from a corner, but it was straight into the hands of the County keeper. Farrugia thought he had been pulled down in the box with 15 minutes of the game remaining, but the referee allowed play to continue. Lembikisa made a brilliant run down the right flank, driving past the defender, but his cross was dealt with and cleared away from danger. The debutant played a great left-footed ball into the box from the right reaching Keillor-Dunn, but he failed to direct his header on target. The Reds scored a late goal in the 91st minute as Keillor-Dunn placed the ball off the post to make it 2-1, but it came too late to take anything from the game in Greater Manchester.
