Next gaffer will be Asbaghi mark 2. Even Evans wouldn’t touch us with a barge pole. It’s at the top where the problems lie. A blind man on a galloping horse would see that,
Yea you are correct micky...we tend to be second to most first and second balls too....I thought it was lack of pace but its sheer application...or lack of.
He is using an exit strategy which I hope succeeds as imo he is a terrible manager. Unfortunately we are then pinning our hopes on those making the decisions to get the next one right and hopes aren't high
Any self respecting manager would take one look at the set up at Oakwell and the last couple of transfer windows and run a mile if approached don't get me wrong somebody would take but I not sure they'd be an improvement on what we've had recently
I've just listened to Mr Clarkes interview and although he's not my favorite person today there's no way he blamed the players. At least 5 times he stated that todays performance was his fault and down to him.
He wants to be sacked, or that’s my take on things over the past few weeks. I think he realises now why so many managers before him kept turning us down, it’s a sinking ship. Toxic.
Why on earth would you do that? I wouldn’t. Stay and wait to be sacked and receive a nice pay off or leave empty handed.
Completely agree. The amount of times I saw Phillips, Nwakali & Russell be like a wet flannel was absurd. We looked hell of a lot better in that second half after Nwakali got taken off, but yet again, another poor overall performance. Not good enough.
Then he should pick a team, or subs to atempt to win, not play silly mind games. How must Josiah Dyer be feeling, endlessly being warmed up over the last two games only to be left kicking his heels.
Saying it’s all his fault whilst not so subtly talking his players down: Talking himself into a sacking. Suspect that’s what he wants - resigning, but in the way he gets paid off. I dont rate him - but I don’t blame him - either for the state we are in, or for ensuring he feathers his nest before he goes. Why shouldn’t he? What a deplorable mess we are in.
He might be utter rubbish though...we don't really know, just looking at his stats he didn't get many games or goals in his loan spells....tbf perhaps they were short term loans?
This is the major problem. Just who in their right mind wants to put their head on the block to work for these idiots? People are saying get Warne in, do me a favour, he wouldn’t come near the job. Pretty sure their plan has always been Hourihane but I wouldn’t be surprised if he turned it down. A first head coach role has to be one that gives you a chance. He’s an intelligent bloke with good contacts in the game, I’m sure he’d get something somewhere else that offers better backing. Our club is rotten to the core.
Jesus, this thread reads like a bunch of people reading one quote and not the entirety of what he said. Which is exactly what it is.
He’s been lied to by the board all season promised him early business in summer and time to assemble his squad and get them ready for the first game didn’t bring in an actual striker left him relying on Watters and a CAM in DKD then again in January promised him early business and guaranteed we’d sign 2 strikers can’t begin to say how many meetings Darrell has had with the board in recent weeks pleading for some backing they told him he should be doing better with what he has and that they expect a top 6 finish even if we didn’t sign anymore worrying times also made a last ditch attempt to sign Alassane Jatta and couldn’t agree personal terms with the player cos we are that tight it’s getting more and more toxic at Oakwell and even the more favorable fans are starting to turn ….
