I know people who dont play the game will take the piss at this but real teams use it as a scouting network and on the last edition of Football Manager he instantly becomes our highest rated player if you were to put him into our side, ill be shocked if he doesent improve us. Not saying FM is perfect for player ratings but genuinely it doesent often miss the mark. Also at his peak at 27 years old not surprised its only till end of season because I suspect he will want to play at a higher level than league 1 so just feeling it out at minute im really happy with this signing.
As a stand alone signing judged without context - he actually looks quite promising. But in the context of what we need, how unbalanced our squad is, how much money we're losing and what formation we play - it's quite baffling. Again. We haven't played with wingers since Hammill and Isgrove. And if the Powers That Be have decided that were changing to 4 at the back to allow width in midfield, then we've fcked it because our defenders don't have the skills to do this. Good luck Mr Clarke.
I’m a one-v-one guy. I like to dribble and try to score goals. I see myself as a creative player, but I can definitely run in behind. I’m a pretty quick player, so hopefully, I can be exciting for the fans Welcome to Oakwell, looking forward to seeing you play Jonathan!
Could be a really exciting signing. Hopefully Pines will be able to help him with the language barrier.
Happy that we have signed another forward, but who are they trying to kid. That lad is a winger who occasionally scores a goal. The spin team can try all they want but don't be attempting to say he is a goal scoring striker. Just be honest. Fans do research. Don't treat us like idiots.
Give it a couple of games and our coaching team will soon knock that out of him lol Welcome to jokewell young un
Don’t think Mladen is one to let the truth get in the way of a good story. Happy to see a couple of wingers at the club though. Might get to see someone in red with pace and trickery beat a man.
I completely agree on the striker part, it would have been nice to have brought one in, but maybe/hopefully he can play that role.
Imho although the transfer window has been poor....at least we have brought in players (irish kid, French kid now this lad) who have pace. Its something we have lacked for ages, hopefully this will quicken up our transition with the ball and start applying a quick press without it.
I don’t think it’s all bad. Not impressed with Rodriguez and I think it was probably a strange signing. Lad from Wolves looked useful and I’ll comment on this signing when I’ve seen him. Bearing in mind that I have a mate who said Glavin was s*** after his first game.
Hope he hasn't found this forum . If folk think a manager can demotivate a player, imagine what the lad would think if he read the hopeful comments on here before he has even kicked a ball.
Welcome to Barnsley, good luck an all the best, just my opinion but cant see this fella being any better than we have, hope i'm wrong.
Minutes played are a far better reflection of contributions rather than games played. So he's scored 27 goals and provided 16 assists in 7,775 mins of MLS football. That's a goal every 288 minutes or roughly every 3 games. In terms of overall contribution that's a goal OR assist every 2 games.
Much like your mate, you've written the French lad off after 45 minutes, where he received no service.
Not saying there aren’t any good small forwards, my point is that I think we needed central striker with a bit of physical presence. Not Cosgrove either before anyone mentions him…..
The article states, "Known for operating on the left wing or as a centre forward" Which is correct. A goal every 3 games which is as good as many strikers you can buy.
