It's unrealustic expectation TTTF and the modern day curse of entitlement. The logic goes that we've made the top 6 for two seasons in a row and therefore we must make the top 6 again. DC feeds that expectation with his top 6 talk also. Whilst I share and feel the frustration, I do think folk should be more realistic and get things in perspective. Mebbe this season we won't be a top 6 club. If that's the case then concentrate on a constructive rebuild for next season. Patience and perspective are key.
I won't be protesting personally. But I can understand the reasons behind why others would. Communication from the Club has been non-existant. We had one soft ball "interview" with Mladen after the window. The Supporters Trust and the FAB have been silent as far as I'm aware. Where's the recourse for the average fan? Other than voicing something on match day, when can they realistically be heard? We need the board to come out and have set in stone a 5 year plan on how they intend on moving the Club forward. Yes, they're putting money in at relatively high levels, and whilst that should be shown the relevant gratitude, criticism is fair in the sense that if they were running things appropriately then those cash injections would likely be unnecessary imo. Come out and tell us what you're wanting to do, and actually do it. A lot of people are sick of the perceived inaction and lack of proactivity that seems to be infecting the Club from top to bottom. Our standards as a Club have slipped beyond anything since administration where a lot of fans seem happy to "just have a team to support". I'm sorry, but that isn't good enough. We have everything at our fingertips to be a solid mid to lower third Championship side. We've literally been a game away from the Premier League in recent years. What we didn't do was have the balls to back the then manager in Val and we were immediately relegated the season after. We nearly got up with Duff, then the season after, and ever since, have regressed to a shadow of what we were. Again, I am grateful for the boards continued financial support, however self-inflicted the need for it is. But they need to either sh*t or get off the pot. We can't keep ambling around firefighting like we are doing, we're going to end up relegated, nevermind promoted. A solid, logical plan please. I don't think that's beyond the pail to ask of them.
I’ll just copy and paste what I said Sunday when learning of this protest. I think that’s a strange one. Surely if you’re backing the team (as the poster states), you’re there before kick off helping to ramp up a supportive atmosphere ahead of a big Yorkshire derby, no? Wouldn’t walking out en-masse at a particular time have more of a visible impact? Not that I’m supporting such action. I just look at the stands these days and they’re that sparse anyway, I’m not sure 50 to 100 folk turning up at 3:08pm in the ponty end will be noticeable. And why is Neerav the target? If it wasn’t for him I dread to think what would have happened under the previous regime. Each to their own I suppose.
I propose a counter-protest: turn up 8 minutes early and don't make any noise. I bet mine gets more followers.
It just comes across as tinpot and uneducated, I don't mean that in a malious way, but some don't even bother looking at the accounts and think the owners are siphoning off millions. For starters Nareev hasn't been here 8 years, might be 8 seasons but they came here in December 2017, so it's just gone 7, laughable. Most on here know my position, I don't agree with the philosophy infact I think it's *hite but I've laboured the point like a broken record, back to basics, solid recruitment, best players for the budget let the head coach crack on blah blah, that's me. Money wise i appreciate the owners basically propping us up, the cost of football is ridiculous nowadays, I don't envy them one bit they get slaughtered and get some shocking abuse, they are just poor at doing things at times, I'm not looking for perfection just a simple common sense approach. Get rid of matey boy Mladen I think they've put far too much trust in him and it isn't delivering. If they chalked on it tomorrow and pulled funding we'd be wound up, some people really struggle to understand that equation.
Well said, if we went on a winning run till now and end of season no one would be doing this. Nareev is trying his hearts in the right place. There's people on here who admittedly didn't watch a game last season but compared last seasons football better than this. That's where we're at. Just get behind them.
I understand the feelings behind this protest but it’s a bit meh to be honest. Folks are frustrated at the poor recruitment we’ve had this season, obviously the poor home form and the lack of communication too. I think the owner’s intentions are good, they must be given the amounts they continue to invest in us. They’re just not very good at running a football club, terrible in fact. The sooner we get a DoF instead of Mladen the better. Someone from a football background with experience and an eye for a player. A Neil Warnock type (not him specifically) would be ideal. Someone like that might cost but maybe we wouldn’t sign so many poor players (and stockpile in some positions) that cost us a fortune in the long run. Something has to change….
No idea mate. I came across it on FB earlier and thought I’d share. Agree with you though, it’s a bit cringe. I don’t know what they expect it to achieve.
https://shop.htafc.com/fashion/retro/ Let's protest instead that Huddersfield have a far wider range of retro shirts available than we do.
Didn’t Wednesday have a 5 yr plan to be in Europe? I think that the day football club owners start having to give assurances, projections and the like to fans, is the day they start wondering if it’s worth the bother, simply because getting it right isn’t an exact science, and also only a small number can be successful. If you look at Derby, they’ve been battered 4-0 at QPR tonight, and sit in the bottom 3 having lost 18 games already. Are we to take it they don’t have a plan in place? Imagine the backlash if they’d published their plan for this season and it didn’t tie in with the reality of their situation. They’d be accused of lying to sell tickets for starters.
Just to add to this, your spot on but also didn't at the last fans forum the club outline the financial position and the aim was to get out ofvthis division and consolidate in the championship, I'm not dreaming that up am I?
Don't you just love it when they say back the team not the regime. Yet think this is a way to back the team. Clueless. No real alternatives and think they speak for all of us. Then join the rest of us 8 minutes after ko. and pose as heroes. Complain by all means at the boiiox of the last 2 transfer windows via whatever avenue is available, but let's be honest. It's not summat they don't know and they are fully aware of the fans dissatisfaction. Clarke even alludes to it. .
Correct but an aim is just that. Which every club should aspire to, No time constraint. 24 teams are all aiming for the same thing realistically or unrealistically. Promotion asap.
Its all well and good slating this protest and aiming to support us etc, but do we actually do this? Do we eck. We sing songs about JAQ, we abuse the players and manager, we have match day threads on here that castigate everything from Clarke, the defence, the owners, the off the field staff, the kit - everything. And that's before we dare to concede a goal. If we're going to pretend we like Neerav and the board now, let's not just do it to be cool and different.
