Great post, wish more people would use this metric instead of games played. 5 minute substitute appearances are hardly fair to judge new players on.
Liked the interview.. we have had a few player come across from the US. Pines last year and we were Darrell. They spoke well if the club.. No mention of Brek.
Having now seen him play, do you still think he's a striker? I'm in very unfamiliar territory here in that I've seen Lewis play. I can't remember the last time I knew a player that we signed. Other than Hammill, who we re-signed, it's probably about 25 years ago. When I say I've seen him play, I mean on telly, not live. My cousin's lad (is that a second cousin or a first cousin once removed, I dunno, I forget) lives in the states and he's in to MLS. And one of his favourite players is Jonathan Lewis! So I got a bit giddy when we signed him because I've watched him play and I thought he was great. He reminded me of Bullock or Marcelle and he would play the same positions - a winger in a 4-4-2, or behind the front 2 in the 3-5-2 that Danny employed to get us promoted to the Prem, or wide left or right in a modern 3-4-3/4-3-3. I don't know why he's been described as a striker because he's not and he doesn't play there. I'm not saying he's never played there, Danny tried Marcelle as a striker for one game in the Premier League, but that doesn't make either a striker. I think Lewis is a great signing, it's made my week, but I can't understand the clamour to make him out to be something he isn't. I don't know what it's trying to prove. He's a great player (imho) in what he actually is good at and I hope we get to see it. I hope Watters can get and keep fit as I think that will help him. Or any striker, but Watters is all we have.
Not sure what the confusion is? I replied to someone saying Mladen was saying something that was factually untrue, when it wasn't. He stated a fact - he has played as a winger and a striker (albeit the majority out wide). 21 appearances that we know about and 8 goals. Clearly it's not his natural position though. Here's hoping he can chip on with some goals.
