Devaney is part of the problem he’s had his chance a couple of times? and didn’t want the responsibility a bit like our players at the moment
Whilst I agree that Warne would be an ample replacement, he'd not touch us with a barge pole in my opinion.
I wasn't stating it as what I wanted to happen, but what I expect to happen if Clarke is relieved of his duties.
Not sure I agree mate. Sack them both yes, but sacking Clarke might get better result almost immediately. He's absolutely out of his depth, tactically appalling and up there with the worst I have witnessed and that includes some of the recent dog sh it we've had in the job. Colins was terrible from an entertainment perspective but tactically made us competitive (Although the squad was still better than performances). I'm playing poker at the moment so can't provide a full breakdown but the gaps between the back and front has still not been addressed all season. We attack and leave the back 3 exposed, we attack and don't have numbers in attack, no overlaps, it's like watching a school team play. Yes, we don't have the most dynamic players but Jesus, some of it is basics
Has to be asked though for sure. The right manager would get more say. Duff clearly had a good say as we brought in a few Burnley lads he worked with before. Struber was allowed to pick multiple signings from his old team too
His assessment of the squad and replacements might be a difficult convo. That's why the likes of Lowe and Warner wouldn't give it a moments thought. Can you imagine the chat? "I think we need A, B and C to make a real fist of it". "Would you accept X, Y and Z? Similar profile but from Estonia L2"
According to my Millers supporting pal, Warne was doing everything - like cleaning out the team bus, preparing pitches etc. Certainly not work-shy. He got to Derby and everything was done for him.
We didn't have a Sporting Director for Duff or Struber having them following a blue print on how to play the game
We probably now have a reputation as a sacking club and rightly so, no-one in their right mind would want the job. The board have made mistakes, recruitment has been abysmal but what if the board did go, do we honestly believe there would be someone willing to take their place, I think most of us away from Facebook know the answer to that one. Personally I think we should stick with Clarke and hope for a glimmer of light to take into next season, the alternative is far far worse for the club
I haven't made my mind up about Clarke. Some of his substitutions are demonstrably appalling. I'm ambivalent to be honest. But any manager would be on a hiding to nothing working with the squad Sormaz has put together. It's appalling. Not necessarily the individual players (although some of them leave a lot to be desired), but the balance. It's not even remotely close to being good enough. And then there's the claims he makes about what he's done, even down to the positions of the players he's signed... Anyway. If we sack Clarke, everyone will be wanting the next manager sacked by the end of the season because the tools are not there to do a decent job. That doesn't mean Clarke is any good, like I said, I don't know, but it won't make any difference if that's what we do. The problem is higher up and it's not the owners. Although obviously there are questions about who they have employed.
Ancellotti wouldn’t get a tune out of this lot. Not a fan of Clarke but completely pointless sacking him now. Play offs long gone even if we do pick up a bit. Take the next couple of months to re-assess and come up with a plan. Even if we have to rip it up and start again.
Has to be both Sormaz AND Clarke to go for me. Look at both their records whilst here. Taking this club backwards big time and if something isn't done imminently it'll take years to put right.
Lord knows what input Clarke had at half time but the team came out as a shadow of the first half team. Then random subs were brought on and whatever structure we might have claimed to have, whatever team understanding, whatever composure, completely vanished. It was every diminished confidence drained man for himself. It'll take me a long time to get round to believing Clarke really does know what he's doing, after that match.
This , if we are looking at attempting to salvage this season. I’d look at giving Warnock and his team complete autonomy over the footballing side. Accept that it would cost a couple of free agent signings as he tries to improve the squad. Offer him a contract until the end of the season with a big incentive upon promotion, either as lump sum and thanks very much or a 1 year extension on much improved rates. I think he believes he has something left in the tank, and it’s got to be worth a gamble, given the direction we are currently heading?
if we had been unlucky I'd say keep him but our results have been our own doing, or if we had been ravaged by injuries but we have been 90% fit squad all season, Duff has beat him 3 times this season must be embarrassing for a manager that, not like they have a world beating squad either
A) No one can save the season, not even Jesus. B) The Sporting Director needs to go. I don't want him making any more decisions at my football club as I struggle to believe he's made any positive contribution since being appointed. Get a new Sporting Director or Director of Football and the rest will take care of itself and I'm pretty sure anyone with a modicum of ability would replace the head coach (and the rest of the coaching staff). I believe we have the right structure at the football club but have appointed people with limited ability and who are sadly out of their depth. Time to reset and go again - as our Darrell would say - else the slow fail will continue.
Meanwhile Everton change their manager and have picked up more points since then, then any other club in the premier league and have gone from scoring 15 goals in 19 games to 12 goals in the last 6, while losing their first choice striker to injury as well. But the coach doesn't make much difference according to some. Quote from Everton fan: "All Dyche did was kept on denouncing the players’ ability to justify his continuous attempts in lowering Everton’s expectations just to hide his tactical incompetence." Sound familiar?
