Anyone watched the ‘Reds on tour’ vlog. The guy that presents it didn’t even know what it was about, so his mate tried to explain, “Owners have been here 8 years, so a minute for every year”. Makes you wonder if many actually fact check before piling on.
Guy sat near me was singing along. Bloke at the side of him said "You know they're putting millions into the club every year to pay the bills and keep the club running." The response? "Aye, but how much are they taking out that they aren't telling us about?"
Football is completely broken. Barnsley FC is just another symptom. If every club in league one we're gifted £10 million quid before next season, any thay didn't use it to pay off debts would see it all go on transfer and salaries. Couple this with the style of football offered up being so boring and repetitive across nearly all teams it really is a sad time. The top flight has turned into a tourist day out and is becoming less the game of working class.
If the owners were all about success and then cashing in, they can’t be happy. If the owners aren’t about success, and they just love the club, then again, they cannot be happy. If they love it and want success, they’ll be unhappy right now. They’re all into this to the tune of millions. Well, Neerav is for sure. Jean less so obviously, and JAQ less than that even. Based on percentages. But they’re still throwing cash in. Yes, they chose this. Nobody forces them to. But still. You can criticise this, that and the other but if they didn’t keep putting money in, then based on Jon Flatman’s speech last summer (and the accounts that are brilliantly explained on here by folk much more intelligent than me), you’re looking at administration in no time at all.
It’s depressing and will stop me coming. Got a ticket for the grandkid but never took him because I anticipated negativity. A good decision. Problem is some folk seem to enjoy the negative chanting.
I know the owners aren’t taking money out and putting money in but it begs the question, who’s fault is it with the situation we are in?
I dont think people have an issue with blaming the owners for their mistakes mate. Its when its accompanied with silly takes like how much money they're taking out on sly, or thyere not really putting money in and even worse, just downright abuse
We all say we are skint and they are puting millions In etc etc How come this excuse only comes from our club? Wy can Wycombe manage? Wy can Oxford manage? Their fans don't use this excuse. They have ambition like most other teams do.
Its the ebb and the flow. Some teams have good years, some teams bad ones. Bigger clubs than ours have had bad years in League One - and much worse than this. We've had twenty years of either Championship football or top end League One. We're allowed One poor year every decade.
Got to be the same fella sat at back of me at Stockport. After I asked him the same. He kept on making excuse after excuse as to how (claiming every penny invested is given back to em in tax was one) . I just said we'll have to agree to disagree. Then he pointed out we have 61 full professional players at the club. I gave up entirely.
