The Reds make a midweek trip to the Cobblers in Sky Bet League One, looking to make it back-to-back victories following a win over Rotherham United on Saturday.


Adam Phillips' 52nd-minute conversion from the spot saw the Reds grind out a gritty performance in Rotherham and battle to victory, according to boss Darrell Clarke.

Now, Barnsley face a Northampton side who have been rejuvenated since the arrival of Kevin Nolan and also secured three points at the weekend, beating Bristol Rovers 2-1 at Sixfields.

Tuesday night's hosts currently sit in 17th position on 32 points, four clear of Burton Albion who currently reside in 21st position.

Luca Connell will miss the next two games after picking up his tenth caution of the season against Rotherham.

Joe Gauci is a doubt for Tuesday night after having to be replaced during the second half at the New York Stadium with a hip issue.

Max Watters is back in contention to be involved against the Cobblers following a short lay-off with an ankle complaint.

Georgie Gent is also in contention after being rested against the Millers.

Donovan Pines will be out for a number of weeks due to a pulled hamstring sustained in our home clash against Huddersfield Town.
