Do you think the players meet up and practice stuff in-between matches cos it isn't that apparent that they do, maybe it's Barnsley's way of keeping the wage bill down?
I'd be interested to hear from Parekh or Sormaz what our style is supposed to be. Collins was sacked for deviating away from a desired style supposedly. This season, with just 13 games left, I still couldn't tell you what our tactics are other than hope we can take advantage of a set piece, or that Dunn can curl a long range shot in. How we get to that point seems to be something not yet uncovered. For years, we'd been set up to counter press, be aggressive and energetic. Stendel, Struber and Ismael all had different varieties of that, but we pressed, we were set up to press and we recruited to press. Given we don't really have forwards, we haven't a structure to press currently, let alone the individuals with the stamina and intensity. We sometimes close down a player, but there is no formulaic coached press. Either high or low, there is no trigger anywhere. We've a collection of players seemingly doing what they think is right in the moment and often it isn't. The more I look back to the summer, the more I think Clarkes appointment was one of hit and hope given our failure to recruit something like 5 or 6 coaches who turned us down, or incredibly, weren't eligible for a visa. Given they sacked Collins for not having a style, I don't see any world where Clarke should be in charge next season.
I'd hope so! Isn't that one of the main points in being a full-time footballer? Rather than turning up to training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings after a day plumbing, teaching, or in the case of a proctologist, looking up people's bums.
I think dad could play in championship,I know he misses sitters but the goals he scores I think he'd av still got them in championship, you need more than 1 good player, then the team are watching other players aswell which gives other better players more space,if I've explained it right.
