Damned if they won't Damned if they will Thankyou BFC for finally giving me and the lad some incentive to come to the ground early.
Based on the documents there, and the 3D view, it would clearly represent a big improvement. Would have preferred a completely covered structure, for obvious reasons, but other than that it appears a big step forward. It's important that the club stops pi**ing cash away on the football side and ploughs some much-needed investment into providing the fanbase with a stadium and facilities to be proud of. Give people a reason to come, rather than merely expecting them to out of loyalty. Especially the kids. Got to grab them while they're young. Wow, that sounded very Savile. Apologies.
I think some work is being done to look at the East Stand and make it more hospitable (ie, close the openings above the turnstile.) I think they are looking at other upgrades. I don't know the details.
I’ve not seen the plans yet, but I just want to say that it’s rubbish. I just want to go along with the general positive outlook of the fans on here.
Not sure how that would work with half time, as essentially you're making the concourse part of the exterior of the stadium.
Just out of interest, what are the differences from what was initially presented to yourselves, to what is now showing on the plans?
Just my opinion, but I think it looks awful. It just feels "half ar*ed". Unfortunately, that goes for most things BFC in recent times. It needs to be a solid structure. This is the UK, it's going to be cold/overcast/raining/windy for large parts of the season. Nobody is going to want to huddle under some pop-up gazebo in the middle of something flanked with what will end up being harris fencing haha! Just do it properly, and do it once. Yes, it is a step forward as we don't currently have anything. But it's like me needing a car for work, not really having the money, so I buy a push bike with a buckled wheel. There's plenty space there for a purpose-built fan zone to be proud of. But nope, we appear to be getting a glorified Council Gala set up. Sorry, just not good enough.
It was a similar design, probably looked a bit bigger with more kiosks with an overflow area at the front. It has a more square design, allowing more space in front of the stage.
No fire exits. No safety points. Good luck getting any one in or out in an emergency. Only one entrance/exit. Unsafe.
It wouldn't entice me to sit in the cold and part with my money, I'll stick to town, I don't know what I expected tbh but definitely not shipping containers and exposure to the cold. 29 years left on the lease you'd have thought the council would have thought it would have been a solid investment with a good return for years to come had it been done right.
It is half a**ed, and looks temporary to me, especially as it appears to run on generators rather than a proper electrical connection.
