RIP. Only found out today that it'll no longer be broadcasting in the UK and the content will be moving to TNT sports which is not free to air. Virgin Media are apparently offering TNT Sports for free to regular Eurosport viewers, so it might be worth chancing it and giving them a call. Personally I'll miss the adverts from Eurosport, Tudor (which they pronounced as two-door) watches and Visit Lebanon stand out. Hopefully the Tour de France coverage is the same.
Yes they were owned by Warner which also owns TNT sports and I think they took the view why keep a free channel going in competition to their paid offering - I guess most of their coverage will still be there just on TNT 3 and 4 or something
With ITV ceasing their Tour de France coverage this year there will be no cycling on free to air TV from then on. You could watch everything on Discovery for £6.99 and now there's been a 343% increase as you'll need to buy TNT. All a bit ironic seeing as they want the Grand Depart to occur in the UK in 2027
It’s crap. I regularly watched the grand tours. The Discovery app was great for the Olympics & then the Vuelta.
If you have Sky, their base packages come with free permanent access to Discovery+, for clarity it’s the usual £7 subscription with Discovery content and Eurosport, not the £30 one with all the football, UFC, rugby union etc
It's a really big issue for cycling fans in the UK. As stated above there is no free to air cycling coverage from next year after 40 years of the TdF been in Channel 4 then ITV Going to have a big impact on the pipeline for British future cyclists. Might go back to the days of only a handful of pros with the big teams
They’ve taken the cycling and many other sports off the basic package also, so this workaround isn’t possible.
I've bit the bullet and signed up as I love my cycling (actually watch way more of it than football now), but still not happy about it.
Aww no lol, what will I do now without any fantastic cycling on telly!!. I won't be able to see all those hilarious pile ups, with the spectacular grazed knees and elbows.
