Or was the choice of sponsors motm at the stadium absolutely bizarre?

Jon Russell - it wasn’t his worst game by any stretch but I’ve got absolutely no idea what would justify that?

His marauding run that Humphries wasted? Not saying that deserved man of the match by itself but only stand out moment I can think of.

You see him do that and I can't help thinking why he doesn't do it abit more.

A few round me picked Russell as did I .The ones who don't like him just laughed because he can't do anything right for them.

Tbh when it was called. I said fair enough, as I couldn't pick one that stood out above him. Who would you have picked. ?.

Watching from afar, I barely noticed him. One of his more anonymous performances from my pov.

I thought he was tidy enough today, and didn’t shirk any challenges which I’ve seen from him in the past - but I wouldn’t have had him as motm; that one run aside he didn’t get involved so much, and we didn’t have strong enough hold of the game in midfield to say he was in control of it. He looks better with Connell sitting than Nwakali (who I thought was poor today - misplaced passes and not enough cover for the back three when they needed it).

I’d have given it to DKD; Roberts was solid again too; and I think we saw a big drop off when Phillips went off - as hard as Benson worked. Even Humphrys got a bit of sweat on his shirt for once - it was him and Phillo going off that changed the momentum, more than Dexter coming on for me. If Russell had one of those games where he’d covered every blade of grass etc I could understand it - but I didn’t see him effect the game much offensively or defensively; he did work hard enough today that said.

Anyway, DKD probably. He was busy, didn’t give their back line a second, never seems to give the ball away either to say he’s not that big or strong. Goal and an assist didn’t hurt either of course.

Russell got through hell of a lot of work both defensively and going forward. He continued in the same vein in the second half unlike the second half against Huddersfield where I was critical of all the players And Clarkes lack of motivational skills.

Russell did well today he wasn't my motm that was dkd, followed by Roberts. But the Russell critics who have slagged him off for 2 seasons won't see anything good he does.

I struggle with Russell what is he. Not a defensive midfielder he can't tackle, he's played more forward this season I haven't checked his stats but how many direct goal involvements has he had. Is that a fair judgement of his worth in the side does he add something I don't see.

6 goals 2 assists more goals that watters, Humphrys or Cosgrove. Had a good season imo but once fans make there mind up that a players no good or he is good that's that for many.

Thought he did ok but MotM for me would have been DKD - goal and an assist and we fell apart when he went off.

Thought Russell did well today, didn't avoid any 50/50s or pull out of challenges like he often does (what I can remember anyway), actually I think one of his better games though I know others don't agree with that.

Although, not a chance he should have won MOTM. DKD all day long, without question for me. Brilliant yet again, followed by probably Roberts despite us conceding 3, could and should have been a lot worse if not for him.

I try to be fair with any player that wears the red shirt. Is that a good return for a player In a advanced roll with the minute's on the pitch he's had. I'm personally not convinced but it's an option not a fact.

True I'd keep Roberts captain even when connell is back. Proper leader.

I’d have gone Roberts or DKD personally.
