When the going gets tough, when we’re under the cosh when we’re chasing the game etc we desperately need a leader somebody to organise, shout at, encourage and most importantly lead from the front . I look round this team and it’s full of followers not a leader in sight

Our best defender , I’m not sure he has any of the attributes I said were lacking , only my opinion .

Makes no difference... No doubt a nice bloke and good footballer but not vocal enough or able to inspire those around him to work harder or organise themselves.

I think a captain sometimes has to have a bit of an edge to them look at someone like Redders players would run through a brick wall for him and we just don't have that at the minute and we look lost trying to close games out as a result.

I dunno what it is with Roberts. Commanding CB, big, Barnsley lad. Bags of experience... Consistently overlooked for captain. Stood in for Hourihane after he left, but McDonald took it the season after, now Connell has it. Weird, but I ain't a manager

McDonald only got it after Roberts left. Roberts was the permanent captain after Hourihane left until he departed.

Ah ok. Who was Angus' CB partner in the 2017/18 season? I think I deliberately forgot that season!

    It was a complete mix.

It started off Angus & Lindsay but he seemed to lose his way with a daft 3 game ban & Jackson had a run then Pinnock & Pearson had turns alongside Lindsay & then Mills came in later in the season.

It was basically Lindsay & one other.

I think Angus might have even departed on loan mid-season.

Great captain talking to the players all game. But he can't be blamed for a tinkering useless head coach

Yes , I like connell, but since getting the arm band he thinks he has to do everything to prove himself take the band away, I think we will see the old Luca

I’m all for strong leadership and positive changes in action. I always like to think we literally saw Neil Redfearn lead the lads from nervously a goal up, to going again and finishing off Bradford.

A year or so earlier Stumpy was moved from struggling left back to centre midfield, where he totally dominated Huddersfield’s ‘hard man’ Bullock and we turned around a 3-0 deficit. He never looked back.

Question is though, how does a strong leader stop his team mates making individual mistakes like we do?
