I can see parallels between our football under Asbaghi and Clarke. We set out to a game plan and have certain key players there to try and execute that plan. If that doesn't work there is no plan B.

    DKD the new Bassi.
    Watters is Morris.
    Phillips is Woodrow.
    O'Keefe is Britain.
    Russell is Romal Palmer.

Maybe, if you're on an industrial amount of PCP.

Asbaghi set his teams out to not lose. I have no clue what Clarke sets them out to do, and neither do the team, going on how we actually play.

By those pairings we have a better side now. DKD is better than Bassi, Phillips is better than Woodrow and Russell is better than Palmer.

Remember we were in a division higher though.

There's no way Phillips is better than Woodrow. They're different players for starters, but Woodrow is in a different parish.

    Edit: and I like Phillips.

Asbaghi was better than Clarke. No doubt.

    No doubt? Really?

    Asbaghi had a win % of 14.81%
Clarke currently has a win % of 39.5%

Are you being serious ?.
I know Clarke doesn't really set a high bar himself to be honest.
But although it was in the Championship, I think Asbaghi was a terrible choice. And it was the second time we tried for him, as he'd already previously turned us down!.

Tbf one was in a relegation fight in the championship. I don't think you can just compare the win percentage.

Morais? No way - we should never have gone down with that squad he set the club back massively

Well, Clarke's taking us to our lowest finish in decades.

Morais had a slightly better squad and resources than Clarke has.

I don't think you can compare managers who have different remits. Morais is comparable to Asbaghi, Schopp, Struber, Wilson 2nd time.

Clarke is comparable to Stendel, Duff, Collins, etc.

Then there's Ismael - who did what nobody apart from Wilson and Bassett did.

I’d say all the players on that list we had back then were better than the current crop.

Bassi was better than DKD. And only had half a season with us.

This isn’t true. We are probably going to finish lower than under Duff and Collins. Johnson’s first season saw us finish 11th, and in the early 2000s we finished 19th, 12th & 13th, prior to Ritchies playoff winning season.

Since 2006, we’ve had 13 seasons in the Championship, so I think it would be wrong to compare those, as it would be impossible for us to start in league one and finish mid championship.

Having said that, if you did want to factor Championship finishes into the scenario, with the exception of Val & Robins seasons, we were usually fighting a rear guard at the end of most seasons.

Decades? With an s? We finished eleventh in this division ten years ago. Thats one decade. I can’t see us finishing much below that.

And finishing upper mid table in league one with a squad that, whilst featuring several good individuals, lacks the balance and is missing depth in too many areas to be any better than upper mid table league one strength doesn’t equate to a poor coach.

It doesn’t make him a good one either - but still.

The squads both Morais and Asbaghi had should have garnered much better results than they got. They hugely underachieved. Asbaghi got four wins. From well over half a season - with decent championship centre backs, keeper, strikers - everything really. Schopp was terrible, we had the players and opportunity to sort it - but we brought in Poya. Absolute disaster. He was probably worse than Schopp.

Realistically Clarke isn’t underachieving, certainly not by much if he is at all - and I say that as someone who is not his biggest fan.

In an ideal world we'd stop hiring coaches with a less than 40% career win rate
