It depends how you evaluate that. The Under 18s won their league a couple of years ago and a majority of players who came through in that crop earned professional contracts.

You could argue it's then the first team staff's responsibility to integrate those players better than they have done.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but that there are various ways to gauge his effectiveness in that job.

 

Barely anyone criticised the Pinnock signing. They saw it as the signing of a young, hungry player who is looking to improve and who is the right profile and age. Like Scowen, Hourihane, Winnall, Watkins, Mawson, Bradshaw, Chaplin etc. Players who have stood up to the rigorous challenges of lower league football who have shown signs of been able to make the step up.

We don't do this any more. That's when people criticise.

But I'd say Ponty Cols, Telford Utd, Worksop, Totton, Bradford PA, Farsley etc are all on those tiers.

And those are just incoming signings since 2023.

 

I'd have rather you gave me players names rather than clubs am no good at guessing games.

Not many because they were poor signings from tiers 8/9/10.

OK then no one ever questioned it bearing in mins he was 4th choice and hardly played before we were relegated. No one ever questioned lower league signings. I remember signing brad potts and people were hammering him and wanting experience cheering as he was subbed I was there. It shouldn't be a competition to deliberately gainsay anyone else for brownie points. If someone makes a decent point, even if its related to something years ago then its still a decent point, no? If you've got a counter-argument just use it. If you think youre correct, argue your case. If you think you're wrong or the other person has a good point say so. Its only a football forum at the end of the day, not life and death...

 

Lower league signings have been criticised in the past for been lower league on here and other platforms. Players who come from clubs higher in the football league seem to get more of a chance from fans then signings from non or lower leagues. The 2nd bit is just my opinion. And lads? You don't need your little clique to jump to your defence surely. Anyway have a good weekend.
