Hopefully he comes good but he is nowhere near ready at the minute 2 possibly all 3 goals were his fault
I’d say he ought to have done better with the first two. Plus he was at fault for the goal at Charlton. Not looked great at all so far.
1st - definitely should have done better, though not helped by his defenders. 2nd - excellent cross, decent header from close in. Would have done very well to keep it out. 3rd - saved a 1 on 1 which rebounded very (un)fortunately to their player, wrong-footing O'Keeffe in the process. Not quite sure what more he could have done.
For the Fletcher goal he was beaten at his near post, just like he was the other night. He had a nightmare.
Stronger hands required. But I don't think it helped having four colleagues back off and allow the man to shoot for goal one. Or, seeing no colleague close down Morgan who had all the time in the world to pick out Fletcher at the back stick. It's proper schoolboy stuff.
Or the goal where Barratt kept back off and off and off until they decide to finally shoot and score.
That was the first goal, I think. Keeper really should have done better with it but the defence should have stopped it long before it got to that point.
Only first he could have done much better with imo. And tbh he kept us level at half time with a few decent enough saves. He was far from worst today.
In Jackson's favour. Slonina and Gauci looked nowhere near ready either but at least he's ours. If we'd applied the same logic at the other end of the pitch, Dyer might be getting his rawness out of his system with game time too. Instead we have Rodrigues.
Of all the players to be digging out, I personally put Jackson near the bottom of the list. He's been put in a tough position. In reality he was our 4th choice keeper, with Slonina, Killip and Gauci all ahead of him.
Well said Helen, I have never known a season when we have had so many goes at getting the right one in. Nearly every team we play has a decent goalie and I couldn’t tell you the vast majority of their names. Why haven’t we been able to pick an able one is beyond me..... and obviously beyond Sormaz too.
So was Charlton's goal on Tuesday. He's not a teenager. He's 23 now, I believe. I have a hunch that he is never going to come good.
he wasn’t at fault for Charlton - could have done better but only a **** coached team gives away a foul there and then can’t put a wall up
I feel a bit sorry for the lad TBH , the last match he got his wall positioned right and the daft buggers jumped over a shot that never looked like getting up, yesterday he had no less than FOUR defenders obstructing his view and not one of them thought to get a foot in and make a tackle! Yes they didn't looked poor for him , but neither of them should have got through to him to start with!
The first goal and the goal at Charlton I reckon I could have saved them both without using my hands. The sort of shots you just boot out when you're playing with kids in the garden.
