I think you’re mistaking me. I’m not just talking about today. I already said in another post, we only had 3 regulars missing from the line up. Im referring to the whole season when I say ‘he’s got what he’s got’.

As fans I think it’s unfair to criticise individual players all season like we do, and then blame Clarke for not getting a tune out of those same players.

I agree that the recruitment has been terrible and sacking Clarke would be scapegoating him but some of our home performance's have been shocking.

Connell came out the tunnel lacklustre, his first touch from the kickoff was lame resulting in Blackpool getting possession .

I think my point is I believe our squad is good enough for the top 6 but at times especially recently we look like a ship without a rudder.

I’m not against sacking him btw. I won’t complain if he’s gone by the next game. I’m just trying to suggest he’s not wholly responsible, and as someone who tries to be fair, I just felt for him today. Not many helping him preserve his job from what I could see.

I suppose we could go down the ‘players won’t play for him’ route, but that seems largely dependant on whether we’re at Oakwell or not, because away from home we’ve won more than anyone, and at Oakwell we were just as bad last season, under a different manager.

Oakwell has become a problem for manager and players alike, and the longer it perstists, the longer it’ll take to exorcise. Especially now we can stay at home and watch every game on telly.

I did, but I don’t any more. I think we are probably one of the ‘best of the rest’. I just hoped we would have enough to sneak into the playoffs, still do, but it’s the hope that kills you.

I've got nothing against him and agree with what your saying, everything is fine lines, maybe sticking with him will reward us next season, who knows?
Many more performances like today though and he'll be the scapegoat.

Don't think anyone is suggesting Clarke fully responsible for the ongoing issues at the club, but he's part of the problem.

Sadly for him, he's the easiest one to rectify which is why it needs to start with him going.

We could possibly get a new DOF if someone was available, but certainly getting new ownership takes a long long time. We all know the owners are the root of all issues, but that certainly won't change anytime soon, even if a serious and willing bidder came forward tomorrow

You’d like to hope so, but it’s a sad fact that sacking Collins hasn’t rectified anything. In terms of league finish and points we could fall way short of where we did last season. Be careful what you wish for.

Agree that they should all have footballing brains but unless they are all working together with the same plan individual brilliance is not enough.

Passing it side to side along the back line or passing it to the backline from further forward before lumping it forward aimlessly into one of the channels hasn't changed.....

And we’re worse off for it. This is where we were under 36 games under Collins, who seemed to be under pressure for most of the season. Certainly didn’t remedy any problems we thought we had by sacking him did we?

But that is what the players keep doing and they are doing it for a reason. It didnt work last season and it isnt working this season. We need a Manager with a half decent set of plans and the ability to coach players.

So you didn’t think that Asbaghi or Schopp needed sacking!

I agree. Smith made one great save in the first half, but his dreadful goalkeeping errors cost us the first two goals. Clarke was not in goal, so he couldn't be blamed for those two goals. Lots of other bad mistakes from other players, but, again, it hardly seems fair to blame Clarke.

Im not sure I’d count finishing in the top 6 last season as not working mate. I’d take that at the start of every season, even at this level.

We’d all love the right manager, players and plans. Football league is full of unhappy fans who’d like better but there are no proven ways to sustained success.

Look at todays opponents. Managed by experienced Steve Bruce. Won today, but not really pulling up any trees generally, just made them hard to beat.

Agree 100%. Happy to keep Clarke for the sake of stability - it's Sorbaz's fault we're in the state we're in.
