Interesting - pretty much says it’s not the coaching staff, it’s the team. From that, you have to blame the recruitment side of the club. It’s hard to know where it lies between Clarke not getting the best out of them, or whether he is, and their best ain’t good enough. Clarke still comes across as a decent coach - speaks the truth. Most would say he’s been dealt a poor hand in the transfer market. I just don’t know where you pin it. Perhaps equally amongst the coaches, players and recruitment team?
I dunno why, but the fact Connell was brought off AND Roberts has gone out on media makes me think the digs from Clarke were aimed at him.
Maybe they’re all at the highest level they can be - but consistency costs us. Can’t always coach that - that comes from within and the desire to do it. And I think that’s what he’s said today.
Been woeful most of season if we’re being honest. Not sure why - we know what he’s capable of. But that’s maybe why he struggled - other teams now know too and combat it. His 1st season with us was great - but he was relatively new on the scene……
I can't quite believe that he can't get more of a tune out of them than currently. We're playing like a bottom six side, Clarke has form for that.
True. Phillips ain’t been the same since that red card at Wembley too. Although appreciate his goals for tally is decent.
I’m glad the team are taking some responsibility. Of course it’ll be Clarke that gets the axe, but it’s only right they recognise that they’re part of the problem.
He can't say anything else if he came out and said the head coach and the coaching is the issue that's him done while ever the coaching staff remain. The quickest out of a job is to criticise those above you in public.
Disagree, I think Phillips has always been same, great scoring record from midfield every season, and every season he seems to have games when he goes unnoticed tbh.....I like him personally but you think he should offer a bit more at times. I do believe though that he’s been same before and after that sending off and it’s not affected him
Clearly. But that performance today wasn’t just about the coaches and board - players have to take the blame too. Today potentially also showed why Slonina & Gauchi were brought in - as Smith isn’t the finished article yet.
