”I won’t have it.” His words today. Referencing his team throwing the towel in. Yet within 30 seconds he mentions it’s happened many times this season. Bit of a problem there, Darrell.
The real question is why on earth you would waste your time going to Oakwell on a lovely sunny day like today? Stop punishing your young un and have a kick about in the garden with him.
Exactly. I'd have a load more respect if after the third or fourth time he binned off the ones he talking about. Much rather that - and demonstrate some tough actions/decisions v just words - than accept it up to now.
The joy of taking a three year old is he doesn't really give a ****. It's class and puts things into perspective. Game of Connect Four and some putting practice in OZone thing before game, lucky enough to be invited on to pitch pre game (which I was more excited about than him obviously) and a nice few hours with his Dad. What more does he need eh. The e numbers and Netflix helped a lot mind.
He hasn't got much choice, really. He obviously thinks what he's got as back up aren't up to it, and has heavily implied as much - who's he going to bin them off for? Our bench is the weakest it's been in years - maybe since I can remember. As a fan I'd personally be playing the kids, but I can see why a professional head coach who presumably wants to get another job at some point wouldn't go straight down that road.
I do get that. But it sounds to me like empty threats - if he's still here next week and he plays the same lads then it's just noise. If he does throw the kids in or give the lads on the bench a chance and comes out and says 'I'm dropping lads who have continued to let me down' then he'd have more sympathy and supporters.
I like the idea of having McCarthy or someone similar involved in some capacity. Even if it’s upstairs to provide a bit of advice and support to the board. Clearly the owners put plenty of money in and have good intentions but they’re not getting the value out of it at the moment. Maybe having someone like McCarthy involved might help with the decision making.
Gives me no pleasure but a poor appointment has proved just that and this had to be the end of the road. You don’t appoint Clarke to get you out of this league. Well not via promotion anyway.
Because they were unhappy with the situation at the club and were venting those feelings as is their right. So the intention was justified, but the detail in their message incorrect. Happy to help.
I’d say he’s lost them, and at that point there’s no return, he has to go. Whatever his “vision” on what they should be doing is they’re clearly not listening,.
I don’t want to rain on your parade but there’s not a hope in hell that Mick takes the job. He’s repeatedly said at legends nights & interviews that he would only ever manage at a club where he has a 100% say on transfers.
I don’t feel like I know if Darrell Clarke is a good manager or not. I do know that I lumped on Blackpool to win today when I saw the team news & there wasn’t any part of me that did it because Clarke is our manager. I did it because I think the first 11 is weaker than the last two seasons & that the back up players are far weaker than the back up players from the last two seasons.
Why Conor, he’s stood side by side during this season. All the reasons for potentially being an influence at this level I.e an integral part of a promotion winning club last year and a fantastic player at a higher level, also work against him stood cross armed as we weakly surrender to teams with worse players. Where is the game management(cringe) and where is the tactical know how?
Well all Clarke does is keep throwing is arms in the air the sitting in box, I never see him try to give instructions, like Bruce was today
