The last regime bought some expensive lemons as players, this regime seems to be buying cheaper lemons..... This regime doesnt appear to be instantly selling every player that will turn a profit.
They havent put that much in because they've made net transfer profits from the playing squad to reduce the operating losses. That's why we're so shiit. What are they doing please to improve the financial position to prevent them having to put so much in and/or continue to deteriorate the playing squad still further from its current generationally poor level?
I see a lot of speculation about things that happen in the boardroom and what the motives of the board are, but that is all it is, speculation. Lots of people stating their speculation as fact no matter how ludicrous it is.....
I just want to deal in facts Scuba. No one can give me any as to what this board are doing to rectify the problems that everyone seems to conveniently attribute to Conway and the Chocolate Dildo Kid.
You're gobsmacked? It happens at almost every single club as you well know and has already been mentioned. Brentford spent 100million to get in premier league. Bolton, Portsmouth, Wigan, Reading etc all tried the same approach and it backfired thus resulting in relegations, some even to league 2. Real Bedford, a club in the 8th tier (might be 7th) have had an injection of just short of 4 million quid. That says everything. It would get leaked if it were true and somebody really wanted to buy us, mate. Why would the owners want to be in this position? Why would they willingly lose almost a million a month? Yes, we would. Crazy if you think otherwise. Unless we get incredibly lucky and sell someone like Jalo or Wilkinson for 10 million - which is increasingly harder to do due to the amount of big clubs around us who hoover up all the young potential talent and let them rot in their academies and reserves. Even if we did get 10 million, it would still only cover the cost for just over a year.
I knew someone would say this. Had we sold Kane, Williams, Cole (when he actually was on form and had about 15 goals in Jan) and Collins in Jan whilst on really good form and so close to promotion, they would have been absolutely slaughtered and called penny pinching money grabbers with no ambition. This is context of which I mentioned earlier. So disingenuous.
Defender who's just turned 16 last month mate. Played for us in paint cup trophy, he's captain of England u16s
They put in a DoF, admittedly the wrong guy but at least they tried it. They are changing managers trying to get one that works. Under the old regime semi succesful managers were leaving after a season. Hopefully now they are looking at what to do next. They own the club, they have sidelined the old regime because they didnt like how they were running things, neither did the EFL. They arent putting money into the club to try to fail because that would be dumb.
Yeah and I keep asking myself the same thing, and I posted this earlier. If they don't like having to put so much money in each month (and surely nobody in their right mind would like that), then what the heck are they still doing here. What, if any, are their short term or maybe long term plans and ambitions. Do they even have any!.
Nice lad too, my sister knows him. Got a good physique for his age for a footballer and looks a very good prospect bud, seen him a couple of times for the kids side and obviously in the paint trophy and he certainly has something about him, considering his age especially
What's crazy is having owners so reliant on sales because they are no good at finding new revenue streams to move the club forward. Some owners have been here 20+ years and others close to a decade. I am really struggling to see what's better now than before they arrived. Willing to listen to ideas.
I don't understand what you mean when you say Oakwell is "inaccessible". Thousands of people accessed it today. For my part, having driven 45 miles to Barnsley from home, I parked my car at Churchfield, near the police station, and walked to the ground, which I accessed very easily.
