I've been thinking long and hard about ...well everything at our club.
Just looking at the playing side...we have Mark Roberts telling us the coaching staff work very hard on our play and the training, echoed by Clarke himself. They also tell us that despite the training that the players then don't do as they are drilled on match day...so my point is this....are the players basically doing as they want because they are uncoachable / shocking players or are they doing it because they don't like the regime?
Either way its not happening...imho, Yes Duff would get a better tune out of this lot but we will not pay to get shut of Clarke.

Arguably our capitulations against them kept him in a job.

    Now then.

I thought Michael Duff was a wonderful fit for our football club. By his own admission he left too early.

Is this side as good as the one he had? No, it isn’t.
Would it work if he returned? Maybe
Is he a better manager than our current one? Yes.

I think the board are in VERY dangerous territory of this club going down next season if they don’t do something to stop the rot.

Getting rid of Clarke and getting on the phone to Michael Duff would give us a much better chance of stopping that rot imho.

‘We let Plymouth beat us to a automatic spot’

Wow. Thats one hell of a statement.

They got over a 100 points & finished above an Ipswich side that went up to the premier league the following season.

Have we ever achieved 100 points in our history?

I don’t watch Huddersfield anywhere near enough to have an informed opinion.

I do know that we were diabolically bad yesterday with 4 regular starters missing so I know injuries play a huge part.

They’ll probably have a few of their best players back shortly. Results will inevitably pick up & it’ll be ‘the board know what they’re doing’. Seen it hundreds of times before.

whilst I kinda get what you are saying but didn’t we have it under duff that we never came back from a losing position under him? I know the caveat was that we often went ahead but in reality the squad then against now would mean it wouldn’t be as successful again anyway.

I'm torn with Duff. I didn't enjoy every game ,maybe because we didn't get a win after conceding first. And i do feel we fell short. I wish he had stayed though, to see what he could have built and for him to have had the courage of his convictions in getting us promoted the next season.

He was offered a boatload of cash and the chance to manage in the championship though Helen
I don’t blame him for leaving in the slightest
Get him in this week and give ourselves a chance for next season.
no faffing around and waiting until the summer
He would be an upgrade and would sell season tickets imho

I think he also knew Thomas wouldn't be staying and mads and kitch would be sold and he would have players like lopata to replace them.

I'd give him a piggyback from Huddersfield to Oakwell.

It's easy for people on here to say he should have stayed, but look at it from his perspective - he knew we were a selling club and if we bollocksed up our recruitment that summer and had a mediocre season the job offers from Championship clubs would be non-existent. A manager's stock can fall incredibly quickly and staying with us had far more potential downside than upside. He'd have needed sectioning if he turned down the Swansea job.

If we rehired Duff at least you know if we concede first we're definitely going to lose so you can go home and not waste your afternoon. We never won after going behind under Duff and I think we only drew one. Huddersfield won one after going behind under Duff but as it was against us I don't think it counts.

Since Duff left the fans don't know where they are. Conceding first is no indication of the final result at all. I even think Collins enjoyed giving the opposition a goal start we won so many games after going behind. But it does mean you have to wait until the end, even when it's crap.

Put some context behind that 6 of those have been against Crawley, we've taken 10 pts from a possible 42 from the 9 teams ahead of us, under Duff we took 10pts off Plymouth, Wednesday and Ipswich from a possible 18

No point directly comparing Duff with Clarke. Anyone suggesting having him back has to ask themselves what would Duff do with this squad of players. This group is much weaker would he have higher up the league I would doubt personally.

We hammered them at home 3 nil, they were nothing special but they had a good manager.

We lost away at exeter, drew away at lincoln. Lots of points dropped to average teams when we had the best team behind ipswich. Nobody can tell me otherwise with that.

Never said it wasn't. Squad especially in that area has gone backwards and that's on board, but Duff still did a cracking job picking up a side that had just finished below a Derby side who were docked 21 points.

If he'd have been given one DKD signing up top he'd have had a good side to get us up.
