If your son’s partner supports a more successful local team how long can he hold on?

Think it's a given that most of us would not support anyone else, no matter how bad things get

I'll always be a Red...not been much since Millwall at Wembley. Had same seat in Ponty from 1994 to 2010, then moved further up out of rain, near Granty banging on side panels. From 1991 to 2010 I was a centenary member
I rattled a bucket at Old Trafford in admin
I finished organising the dinner at Ardsley House in admin
    loved Hoyland Reds....

Unfortunately I didn't like what I was seeing...
No incentive to get to Oakwell early
    ***** half time entertainment
    Rubbish catering facilities

I'll die a Barnsley fan, but I just lost interest in going.

Big up to all who go week in week out

This is how I feel; I will always support them no matter what, have done for 48 years so won’t change now but can’t deny it’s tough at the moment.

    There have been worse times:

1966 - whilst England were winning the World Cup. Barnsley were almost going bust.

    2003 - Administration.

There have been plenty of good times in-between.

    What goes around comes around.

Most clubs of our size have similar ups and downs.

In the 51 years I've supported the club, 35 of those have been in the second tier, save for one year in the Premier.

During that time we were in the second tier for 17 consecutive seasons, mostly with low attendances.

We've also been privy to exciting Cup runs in that time.

Not too bad for a small town methinks.

The finances of the game have changed out of all recognition over that period. Money now shouts with a megaphone making it extremely difficult for clubs of our size and fan base to go beyond the second tier.

How much more difficult is it to get promotion to the premier league without a multi-millionaire bank rolling the wage bill and the transfer fees?

As supporters the most we can home for nowadays is an excursion into the championship, unless someone with more money than sense is willing to pick up the tab.

They're a good team. Best I've seen at Worsbrough this season.
