For me our coaching staff needs overhauling. I am not doubting their loyalty to the club or similar themes but for me the team looks disorganised and unfit compared to other teams in League1. Stead and Devanney have had their chance and the team seems to be going backwards. Hourihane is still learning and should have started in the under18s or under 23s not first team. It appears there are more chiefs than Indians in the dugout each giving different views and orders. Clarke or the H/Cshould be given some say over the coaching staff not get the previous coaches hand me downs. Sorry but something has to change too in the attitude of the board if the downward spiral is to be reversed.

Coaches aren't players. Personally you need characters in the dug out. Characters with substance that have achieved something. I actually think Clarke is the right guy under the right model.

The problem's higher up. Other than Duff and Edwards there aren't that many out there.

I also think you need a boot room and what it means to play for Barnsley. Devaney and Hourihane supply that.

Ultimately it's all down to players and if they aren't good enough you're pissing in the wind.

Totally agree, too many coaches seem to be taking it easy and letting the players slack off, you're not there to be mates, if you want a friend buy a dog.

I wouldn't buy a pedigree, chum! Too many issues with pure breds. Heinz 57 varieties are generally healthier and come with lower vet's bills. :D:D

I don’t know if that’s true or not. I don’t watch them train, never been in the dressing room and I’m not privy to what’s said in the dugout.

Can’t disagree in terms of both organisation and fitness. The late goals we concede are evidence of poor fitness and concentration.

Plus training ground routines for corners and free kicks seem non existent at times and that too is what trainers are responsible for. What with sports scientists, match analysists etc it would appear its all being for nothing as fans who attend the home games can analyse the match usually in a few choice words after sitting through the dross being served up.

Can see all angles and it's a great thread and point of view. Just matters not if the players aren't good enough.

Repeating myself. The problem with Barnsley F.C is and always has been is at the top.

Rich fuddy duddies decide our fate. The only one that knew a little was John Dennis.

That was the only problem. When push came to shove. He knew very little. He was best of a bad bunch. Kudos.

Hourihane is touted by some as our set piece coach. Even these have deteriorated this season.

I'm not sure if the set piece designs are not that good, if they're too elaborate, badly executed, or a bit of all three. The latter is definitely part of the equation, though.

Must admit. I’d like to see our players be fit enough (and good enough) to revert to the pressing style of play when we’re out of possession.
And ideally have players who are quick on the break too.

do we even have a fitness coach any more?

It's looking like a huge waste bringing Connor back, seen as he isn't playing.
Nicky Eaden could play a part ,done really well with the young uns .

It would actually be very nice if someone at the club said 'this coach is crap' 'The manager is crap' ' players x,y and z are crap' 'The dof is crap'. Ultimately its down to Neerav. He should tell us who he thinks is crap and then tell us what he's going to do. He won't though. Clarke won't say Sormaz is crap, Sormaz won't say Clarke is crap and nobody will say the players are crap. A bit of honesty would be refreshing.

Starting with the Hourihane re-signs for Barnsley fc only for his legs have gone a couple of months later fiasco for example. That won't work twice come early bird sales.

No such thing as too many coaches, all boils down to what they do.
What we shouldnt lose sight of though is the coaches are there to carry out the Managers instructions which raises the questions is the Manager not managing the Coaches properly or is giving them bad instructions?

No. You never set out to fail. Clarke came in his pants when he got the job at Barnsley and is visibly gutted he's failing in his biggest gig.

Let Clarke decide his staff and who he signs.

It's a massive U-turn from me but last few weeks prove he isn't the problem.

Wish I had some brass to help the poor bugger out.

    It didn’t work first time

A few on here knew he wouldn’t be playing much and said so at the time
