He was never the solution tho either. It’s the right decision but under the wrong circumstances. Clarke was very likeable. He talked well but didn’t walk well. Said all the right things but failed to implement them. The squad is poor and I never had us down as top 6. I also didn’t expect the season to be totally over with 10x games to go…. so in that sense….the right decision. I’d be more happier tho if Sormaz was next.
I believe in cause and effect. Things started going downhill last season when a certain DOF joined. The Head Coach, whoever it is, will not be able to succeed under the present set up. Unfortunately.
Hey Murder, we do agree on something after all. I think Clarke's role had become untenable, and admittedly he's not been doing himself many favours has he. But I do think it sucks that he's hardly been backed by the owners, so the argument goes both ways as well.
I might be in a minority, but I didn't take to him at all. The more I heard, the more I cringed, he just sounded a bit thick and would repeat the same words through his interview. Anyway.... Onto BFC coach 3,217.
The weird thing, for ten games it doesn't matter that much. It probably only matters to Hourihane if he actually wants the thing permanently so he needs to show he can organise a team. It's a very low bar, but my expectations are limited.
I can see a world where he's not here for the start of next season. He's not daft either, pretty ruthless I suspect too, so with his elevation, he'll very much be evaluating his chances of success and whether the structures and people around him are too much of a hinderance.
I was like this at the end. It was refreshing at the start of the season but when you hear the same things 36 games in when things aren’t going well, you stop believing in that person. I think he’s a top bloke but just didn’t have the right credentials. Maybe the job expectation was also too big for him. I’ve no qualms with him. One of those appointments that we will probably forget all about after a few years…..as he was neither liked or disliked. Big Summer ahead!
