They begged him in the summer, and I mean quite literally begged him. 2 things DS wasn’t sold on was the fact he was told he wouldn’t be able to fetch his own back room staff and would have to work with the current crop, and 2. He didn’t feel that trusting of the ownership group due to their close ties with Paul Conway. There’s issues and serious fractures in that relationship that I don’t think could ever be fixed. Despite the apologies he received from club officials last year. I don’t think we’ll ever see Stendel back at oakwell whilst we have the current ownership in place.
agree with all of this mate but it’s only forfeited if no deal is done between the parties. If the club want to make it happen, they could. but we all know they won’t.
I think the timing was about right. We got battered by a very average Blackpool and Charlton are nowt special unfortunately Clarke had run his race. They knew Conor would be a a fairly popular option and he's got 10 games to make the job his. He's a very intelligent man is old Conor the love of the club stuff obviously realised very early on he needed out of the playing side to avoid the mate's syndrome, the plans come together. Let's hope he delivers on the Conor March to the top wouldn't surprise me but how long he sticks round is a another thing.
One irony of the timing is that it appears to have coincided with Doug O'Kane being on annual leave, so the extent of the Chronicle's online coverage so far is to literally reproduce the wording of the announcement.
